err is a 32-bit integer, but elf_update returns an off_t, which is 64-bit
at least on 64-bit platforms. If symbols_patch is called on a binary between
2-4GB in size, the result will be negative when cast to a 32-bit integer,
which the code assumes means an error occurred. This can wrongly trigger
build failures when building very large kernel images.

The amt.sh requires smcrouted for multicasting routing.
So, it starts smcrouted before forwarding tests.
It must be stopped after all tests, but it isn't.
To fix this issue, it kills smcrouted in the cleanup logic.

The hashchk tests want to verify that the hash key is changed over exec.
It does so by calculating hashes at the same address across an exec.
This is made simpler by disabling PIE functionality, so we can
re-execute ourselves and be using the same addresses in the child.
While -fno-pie is already added, -no-pie is also required.

The maximum number of bundles in the meter certificate was set to 8 which
is much less than the maximum. Instead, since the bundles appear at the end
of the file, set it based on the remaining file size from the bundle start
position.

Sys events are eagerly loaded as each event has a compat option that may
mean the event is or isn't associated with the PMU.
These shouldn't be counted as loaded_json_events as that is used for
JSON events matching the CPUID that may or may not have been loaded. The
mismatch causes issues on ARM64 that uses sys events.

Perf event names aren't case sensitive. For sysfs events the entire
directory of events is read then iterated comparing names in a case
insensitive way, most often to see if an event is present.
Consider:
$ perf stat -e inst_retired.any true
The event inst_retired.any may be present in any PMU, so every PMU's
sysfs events are loaded and then searched with strcasecmp to see if
any match. This event is only present on the cpu PMU as a JSON event
so a lot of events were loaded from sysfs unnecessarily just to prove
an event didn't exist there.
This change avoids loading all the events by assuming sysfs event
names are always either lower or uppercase. It uses file exists and
only loads the events when the desired event is present.
For the example above, the number of openat calls measured by 'perf
trace' on a tigerlake laptop goes from 325 down to 255. The reduction
will be larger for machines with many PMUs, particularly replicated
uncore PMUs.
Ensure pmu_aliases_parse() is called before all uses of the aliases
list, but remove some "pmu->sysfs_aliases_loaded" tests as they are now
part of the function.

Add perf_pmu__name_from_config that does a reverse lookup from a
config number to an alias name. The lookup is expensive as the config
is computed for every alias by filling in a perf_event_attr, but this
is only done when verbose output is enabled. The lookup also only
considers config, and not config1, config2 or config3.

When dumping a perf_event_attr, use pmus to find the PMU and its name
by the type number. This allows dynamically added PMUs to be described.

The jevent "Compat" is used for uncore PMU alias or metric definitions.
The same PMU driver has different PMU identifiers due to different
hardware versions and types, but they may have some common PMU event.
Since a Compat value can only match one identifier, when adding the
same event alias to PMUs with different identifiers, each identifier
needs to be defined once, which is not streamlined enough.
So let "Compat" support using regular expression to match identifiers
for uncore PMU alias. For example, if the "Compat" value is set to
"43401|43c01", it would be able to match PMU identifiers such as "43401"
or "43c01", which correspond to CMN600_r0p0 or CMN700_r0p0.

pmu__find_core_pmu() more logically belongs in pmus.c because it
iterates over all PMUs, so move it to pmus.c
At the same time rename it to perf_pmus__find_core_pmu() to match the
naming convention in this file.
list_prepare_entry() can't be used in perf_pmus__scan_core() anymore now
that it's called from the same compilation unit. This is with -O2
(specifically -O1 -ftree-vrp -finline-functions
-finline-small-functions) which allow the bounds of the array
access to be determined at compile time. list_prepare_entry() subtracts
the offset of the 'list' member in struct perf_pmu from &core_pmus,
which isn't a struct perf_pmu. The compiler sees that pmu results in
&core_pmus - 8 and refuses to compile. At runtime this works because
list_for_each_entry_continue() always adds the offset back again before
dereferencing ->next, but it's technically undefined behavior. With
-fsanitize=undefined an additional warning is generated.
Using list_first_entry_or_null() to get the first entry here avoids
doing &core_pmus - 8 but has the same result and fixes both the compile
warning and the undefined behavior warning. There are other uses of
list_prepare_entry() in pmus.c, but the compiler doesn't seem to be
able to see that they can also be called with &core_pmus, so I won't
change any at this time.

Test that the new expression builtin returns a match when the current
escaped CPU ID is given, and that it doesn't match when "0x0" is given.
The CPU ID in test__expr() has to be changed to perf_pmu__getcpuid()
which returns the CPU ID string, rather than the raw CPU ID that
get_cpuid() returns because that can't be used with strcmp_cpuid_str().
It doesn't affect the is_intel test because both versions contain
"Intel".

The open() function returns -1 on error.
The 'control' and 'ack' file descriptors are both initialized with
open() and further validated with 'if' statement.
'if (!control)' would evaluate to 'true' if returned value on error were

The linked commit updated dso__load_vmlinux() to call
dso__set_long_name() before loading the symbols. Loading the symbols may
not succeed but dso__set_long_name() takes ownership of the string. The
two callers of this function free the string themselves on failure
cases, resulting in the following error:
$ perf record -- ls
$ perf report
free(): double free detected in tcache 2
Fix it by always taking ownership of the string, even on failure. This
means the string is either freed at the very first early exit condition,
or later when the dso is deleted or the long name is replaced. Now no
special return value is needed to signify that the caller needs to
free the string.

ui_browser__show() is capturing the input title that is stack allocated
memory in hist_browser__run().
Avoid a use after return by strdup-ing the string.

hist_browser__run isn't on the stack so the asan error looks legit.
There's no clean init/exit on struct ui_browser so I may be trading a
use-after-return for a memory leak, but that seems look a good trade

These tests record in a mode that includes kernel trace but look for
samples of a userspace process. This makes them sensitive to any kernel
compilation options that increase the amount of time spent in the
kernel. If the trace buffer is completely filled before userspace is
reached then the test will fail. Double the buffer size to fix this.
The other tests in the same file aren't sensitive to this for various
reasons, for example the iterate devices test filters by userspace trace
only. But in order to keep coverage of all the modes, increase the
buffer size rather than filtering by userspace for the basic tests.

User space tasks can migrate between CPUs, so when tracing selected CPUs,
sideband for all CPUs is needed. In this case set the cpu map of the evsel
to all online CPUs. This may modify the original cpu map of the evlist.
Therefore, need to check whether the preceding scenario exists before
record__init_thread_masks().
Dummy tracking has been set in record__open(), move it before
record__init_thread_masks() and add a helper for unified processing.

'perf test' needs to update base-record & system-wide-dummy attr expected values
for test-record-C0:
1. Because a dummy sideband event is added to the sampling of specified
CPUs. When evlist contains evsel of different sample_type,
evlist__config() will change the default PERF_SAMPLE_ID bit to
PERF_SAMPLE_IDENTIFICATION bit.

Currently, intel-bts, intel-pt, and arm-spe may add tracking event to the
evlist. We may need to search for the tracking event for some settings.
Therefore, add evlist__findnew_tracking_event() helper.
If system_wide is true, evlist__findnew_tracking_event() set the cpu map
of the evsel to all online CPUs.

PERF_PMU_CAP_EXTENDED_HW_TYPE results in multiple events being opened on
heterogeneous systems. Currently this test only sets its required
attributes on the first event. Not disabling enable_on_exec on the other
events causes the test to fail because the forked objdump processes are
sampled. No tracking event is opened so Perf only knows about its own
mappings causing the objdump samples to give the following error:

To prevent anyone from seeing a test failure appear as a regression and
thinking that it was caused by their code change, insert some noise into
the loop which makes it immune to sampling bias issues (errata 1694299).
The "test data symbol" test can fail with any unrelated change that
shifts the loop into an unfortunate position in the Perf binary which is
almost impossible to debug as the root cause of the test failure.
Ultimately it's caused by the referenced errata.

It should pass a proper address (i.e. suitable for objdump or addr2line)
to get_srcline() in order to work correctly. It used to pass an address
with map__rip_2objdump() as the second argument but later it's changed
to use notes->start. It's ok in normal cases but it can be changed when
annotate_opts.full_addr is set. So let's convert the address directly
instead of using the notes->start.
Also the last argument is an IP to print symbol offset if requested. So
it should pass symbol-relative address.

The annotation options are to control the behavior of objdump and the
output. It's basically used by 'perf annotate' but 'perf report' and
'perf top' can call it on TUI dynamically.
But it doesn't need to have a copy of annotation options in many places.
As most of the work is done in the util/annotate.c file, add a global
variable and set/use it instead of having their own copies.

The cycles info is used only when branch stack is provided. Separate
them from 'struct annotation_line' into a separate struct and lazy
allocate them to save some memory.
Committer notes:
Make annotation__compute_ipc() check if the lazy allocation works,
bailing out if so, its callers already do error checking and
propagation.

'struct thread' values hold onto references to mmaps, DSOs, etc. When a
thread exits it is necessary to clean all of this memory up by removing
the thread from the machine's threads. Some tools require this doesn't
happen, such as auxtrace events, 'perf report' if offcpu events exist or
if a task list is being generated, so add a 'struct symbol_conf' member
to make the behavior optional. When an exited thread is left in the
machine's threads, mark it as exited.
This change relates to commit 40826c45eb ("perf thread: Remove
notion of dead threads") . Dead threads were removed as they had a
reference count of 0 and were difficult to reason about with the
reference count checker. Here a thread is removed from threads when it
exits, unless via symbol_conf the exited thread isn't remove and is
marked as exited. Reference counting behaves as it normally does.

Commit 5b7ba82a75 ("perf symbols: Load kernel maps before using")
changed it so that loading a kernel DSO would cause the symbols for the
DSO to be eagerly loaded.
For 'perf record' this is overhead as the symbols won't be used. Add a
field to 'struct symbol_conf' to control the behavior and disable it for
'perf record' and 'perf inject'.

The session has a header in it which contains a perf env with
bpf_progs. The bpf_progs are accessed by the sideband thread and so
the sideband thread must be stopped before the session is deleted, to

When running the bridge IGMP/MLD selftests on debug kernels we can get
spurious errors when setting up the IGMP/MLD exclude timeout tests
because the membership interval is just 3 seconds and the setup has 2
seconds of sleep plus various validations, the one second that is left
is not enough. Increase the membership interval from 3 to 5 seconds to
make room for the setup validation and 2 seconds of sleep.

The x86 instruction decoder is used not only for decoding kernel
instructions. It is also used by perf uprobes (user space probes) and by
perf tools Intel Processor Trace decoding. Consequently, it needs to
support instructions executed by user space also.
Intel Architecture Instruction Set Extensions and Future Features manual
number 319433-044 of May 2021, documented VEX versions of instructions
VPDPBUSD, VPDPBUSDS, VPDPWSSD and VPDPWSSDS, but the opcode map has them
listed as EVEX only.
Remove EVEX-only (ev) annotation from instructions VPDPBUSD, VPDPBUSDS,
VPDPWSSD and VPDPWSSDS, which allows them to be decoded with either a VEX
or EVEX prefix.

The x86 instruction decoder is used not only for decoding kernel
instructions. It is also used by perf uprobes (user space probes) and by
perf tools Intel Processor Trace decoding. Consequently, it needs to
support instructions executed by user space also.
Opcode 0x68 PUSH instruction is currently defined as 64-bit operand size
only i.e. (d64). That was based on Intel SDM Opcode Map. However that is
contradicted by the Instruction Set Reference section for PUSH in the
same manual.
Remove 64-bit operand size only annotation from opcode 0x68 PUSH
instruction.

The test case test_cgcore_lesser_ns_open only tasks effect when cgroup2
is mounted with "nsdelegate" mount option. If it misses this option, or
is remounted without "nsdelegate", the test case will fail. For example,
running bpf/test_cgroup_storage first, and then run cgroup/test_core will
fail on test_cgcore_lesser_ns_open. Skip it if "nsdelegate" is not
detected in cgroup2 mount options.

The test seems to expect that nc will exit after the first
received message. This is not the case with Ncat 7.94.
There are multiple versions of nc out there, switch
to socat for better compatibility.
Tell socat to exit after 128 bytes and pad the message.
Since the test sets -e make sure we don't set exit code
(|| true) and print the pass / fail rather then silently
moving over the test and just setting non-zero exit code
with no output indicating what failed.

Cast operation has a higher precedence than addition. The code here
wants to zero the 2nd half of the 64-bit metadata, but due to a pointer
arithmetic mistake, it writes the zero at offset 16 instead.
Just adding parentheses around "data + 4" would fix this, but I think
this will be slightly better readable with array syntax.
I was unable to test this with tools/testing/selftests/bpf/vmtest.sh,
because my glibc is newer than glibc in the provided VM image.
So I just checked the difference in the compiled code.

Align the behavior for gcc and clang builds by interpreting unset
`ARCH` and `CROSS_COMPILE` variables in `LLVM` builds as a sign that the
user wants to build for the host architecture.
This patch preserves the properties that setting the `ARCH` variable to an
unknown value will trigger an error that complains about insufficient
information, and that a set `CROSS_COMPILE` variable will override the
target triple that is determined based on presence/absence of `ARCH`.
When compiling with clang, i.e., `LLVM` is set, an unset `ARCH` variable in
combination with an unset `CROSS_COMPILE` variable, i.e., compiling for
the host architecture, leads to compilation failures since `lib.mk` can
not determine the clang target triple. In this case, the following error
message is displayed for each subsystem that does not set `ARCH` in its
own Makefile before including `lib.mk` (lines wrapped at 75 chrs):

First of all, in order to build with clang at all, one must first apply
Valentin Obst's build fix for LLVM [1]. Once that is done, then when
building with clang, via:
make LLVM=1 -C tools/testing/selftests
...the following error occurs:
clang: error: cannot specify -o when generating multiple output files
This is because clang, unlike gcc, won't accept invocations of this
form:
clang file1.c header2.h
Fix this by using selftests/lib.mk facilities for tracking local header
file dependencies: add them to LOCAL_HDRS, leaving only the .c files to
be passed to the compiler.

First of all, in order to build with clang at all, one must first apply
Valentin Obst's build fix for LLVM [1]. Once that is done, then when
building with clang, via:
make LLVM=1 -C tools/testing/selftests
...the following error occurs:

This is because clang, unlike gcc, won't accept invocations of this
form:

While trying to fix this, I noticed that:
a) selftests/lib.mk already avoids the problem, and
b) The binderfs Makefile indavertently bypasses the selftests/lib.mk
build system, and quitely uses Make's implicit build rules for .c files
instead.
The Makefile attempts to set up both a dependency and a source file,
neither of which was needed, because lib.mk is able to automatically
handle both. This line:
binderfs_test: binderfs_test.c
...causes Make's implicit rules to run, which builds binderfs_test
without ever looking at lib.mk.
Fix this by simply deleting the "binderfs_test:" Makefile target and
letting lib.mk handle it instead.

The verifier assumes that 'sk' field in 'struct socket' is valid
and non-NULL when 'socket' pointer itself is trusted and non-NULL.
That may not be the case when socket was just created and
passed to LSM socket_accept hook.
Fix this verifier assumption and adjust tests.

As Martin mentioned in review comment, there is an existing bug that
orig_netns_fd will be leaked in the later "goto fail;" case after
open("/proc/self/ns/net") in open_netns() in network_helpers.c. This
patch adds "close(token->orig_netns_fd);" before "free(token);" to
fix it.

The struct bpf_fib_lookup is supposed to be of size 64. A recent commit
59b418c706 ("bpf: Add a check for struct bpf_fib_lookup size") added
a static assertion to check this property so that future changes to the
structure will not accidentally break this assumption.
As it immediately turned out, on some 32-bit arm systems, when AEABI=n,
the total size of the structure was equal to 68, see [1]. This happened
because the bpf_fib_lookup structure contains a union of two 16-bit
fields:

__u16 mtu_result;
};
which was supposed to compile to a 16-bit-aligned 16-bit field. On the
aforementioned setups it was instead both aligned and padded to 32-bits.
Declare this inner union as __attribute__((packed, aligned(2))) such
that it always is of size 2 and is aligned to 16 bits.

When pinning programs/objects under PATH (eg: during "bpftool prog
loadall") the bpffs is mounted on the parent dir of PATH in the
following situations:
- the given dir exists but it is not bpffs.
- the given dir doesn't exist and the parent dir is not bpffs.
Mounting on the parent dir can also have the unintentional side-
effect of hiding other files located under the parent dir.
If the given dir exists but is not bpffs, then the bpffs should
be mounted on the given dir and not its parent dir.
Similarly, if the given dir doesn't exist and its parent dir is not
bpffs, then the given dir should be created and the bpffs should be
mounted on this new dir.

Assert that accesses to a non-existent vgic-v2 CPU interface
consistently fail across the various KVM device attr ioctls. This also
serves as a regression test for a bug wherein KVM hits a NULL
dereference when the CPUID specified in the ioctl is invalid.
Note that there is no need to print the observed errno, as TEST_ASSERT()
will take care of it.

Currently, the sud_test expects the emulated syscall to return the
emulated syscall number. This assumption only works on architectures
were the syscall calling convention use the same register for syscall
number/syscall return value. This is not the case for RISC-V and thus
the return value must be also emulated using the provided ucontext.

Since the dynevent/add_remove_btfarg.tc test case forgets to ensure that
fprobe is enabled for some structure field access tests which uses the
fprobe, it fails if CONFIG_FPROBE=n or CONFIG_FPROBE_EVENTS=n.

The standard library perror() function provides a convenient way to print
an error message based on the current errno but this doesn't play nicely
with KTAP output. Provide a helper which does an equivalent thing in a KTAP
compatible format.
nolibc doesn't have a strerror() and adding the table of strings required
doesn't seem like a good fit for what it's trying to do so when we're using
that only print the errno.

In commit 0518dbe97f ("selftests/mm: fix cross compilation with LLVM")
the logic to detect the machine architecture in the Makefile was changed
to use ARCH, and only fallback to uname -m if ARCH is unset. However the
tests of ARCH were not updated to account for the fact that ARCH is
"powerpc" for powerpc builds, not "ppc64".
Fix it by changing the checks to look for "powerpc", and change the
uname -m logic to convert "ppc64.*" into "powerpc".
With that fixed the following tests now build for powerpc again:
* protection_keys
* va_high_addr_switch
* virtual_address_range
* write_to_hugetlbfs

When creating the topology for the test, three veth pairs are created in
the initial network namespace before being moved to one of the network
namespaces created by the test.
On systems where systemd-udev uses MACAddressPolicy=persistent (default
since systemd version 242), this will result in some net devices having
the same MAC address since they were created with the same name in the
initial network namespace. In turn, this leads to arping / ndisc6
failing since packets are dropped by the bridge's loopback filter.
Fix by creating each net device in the correct network namespace instead
of moving it there from the initial network namespace.

The struct adjtimex freq field takes a signed value who's units are in
shifted (<<16) parts-per-million.
Unfortunately for negative adjustments, the straightforward use of:

Running turbostat on a 16 socket HPE Scale-up Compute 3200 (SapphireRapids) fails with:
turbostat: /sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_uncore_frequency/package_010_die_00/current_freq_khz: open failed: No such file or directory
We observe the sysfs uncore frequency directories named:

The culprit is an incorrect sprintf format string "package_0%d_die_0%d" used
with each instance of reading uncore frequency files. uncore-frequency-common.c
creates the sysfs directory with the format "package_%02d_die_%02d". Once the
package value reaches double digits, the formats diverge.
Change each instance of "package_0%d_die_0%d" to "package_%02d_die_%02d".

Previously a failed read of /dev/cpu_dma_latency erroneously complained
turbostat: capget(CAP_SYS_ADMIN) failed, try "# setcap cap_sys_admin=ep ./turbostat
This went unnoticed because this file is typically visible to root,
and turbostat was typically run as root.
Going forward, when a non-root user can run turbostat...
Complain about failed read access to this file only if --debug is used.

When running turbostat, a system with 512 cpus reaches the limit for
maximum number of file descriptors that can be opened. To solve this
problem, the limit is raised to 2^15, which is a large enough number.
Below data is collected from AMD server systems while running turbostat:

The event filter function test has been failing in our internal test
farm:

Running the test in verbose mode indicates that this is because the test
erroneously determines that kmem_cache_free() is the most common caller
of kmem_cache_free():

This seems to be because the system in question has tasks with ':' in
their name (which a number of kernel worker threads have). These show up
in the trace, e.g.

... and so when we try to extact the call_site with:

... the 'cut' command will extrace the column containing
'kmem_cache_free' rather than the column containing 'call_site=...', and
the 'sed' command will leave this unchanged. Consequently, the test will
decide to use 'kmem_cache_free' as the filter function, resulting in the
failure seen above.
Fix this by matching the 'call_site=<func>' part specifically to extract
the function name.

This patch adds a missing check to bloom filter creating, rejecting
values above KMALLOC_MAX_SIZE. This brings the bloom map in line with
many other map types.
The lack of this protection can cause kernel crashes for value sizes
that overflow int's. Such a crash was caught by syzkaller. The next
patch adds more guard-rails at a lower level.

The Bionic version of pthread_create used on Android calls the prctl
function to give the stack and thread local storage a useful name. This
will cause the KILL_THREAD test to fail as it will kill the thread as
soon as it is created.
change the test to use getpid instead of prctl.

Currently the user_notification_addfd test checks what the next expected
file descriptor will be by incrementing a variable nextfd. This does not
account for file descriptors that may already be open before the test is
started and will cause the test to fail if any exist.
Replace nextfd++ with a function get_next_fd which will check and return
the next available file descriptor.

The commit fc8b2a6194
("net: more strict VIRTIO_NET_HDR_GSO_UDP_L4 validation")
adds check of potential number of UDP segments vs
UDP_MAX_SEGMENTS in linux/virtio_net.h.
After this change certification test of USO guest-to-guest
transmit on Windows driver for virtio-net device fails,
for example with packet size of ~64K and mss of 536 bytes.
In general the USO should not be more restrictive than TSO.
Indeed, in case of unreasonably small mss a lot of segments
can cause queue overflow and packet loss on the destination.
Limit of 128 segments is good for any practical purpose,
with minimal meaningful mss of 536 the maximal UDP packet will
be divided to ~120 segments.
The number of segments for UDP packets is validated vs
UDP_MAX_SEGMENTS also in udp.c (v4,v6), this does not affect
quest-to-guest path but does affect packets sent to host, for
example.
It is important to mention that UDP_MAX_SEGMENTS is kernel-only
define and not available to user mode socket applications.
In order to request MSS smaller than MTU the applications
just uses setsockopt with SOL_UDP and UDP_SEGMENT and there is
no limitations on socket API level.

While sched* events being traced and sched* events continuously happen,
"[xx] event tracing - enable/disable with subsystem level files" would
not stop as on some slower systems it seems to take forever.
Select the first 100 lines of output would be enough to judge whether
there are more than 3 types of sched events.

check_timer_distribution() runs ten threads in a busy loop and tries to
test that the kernel distributes a process posix CPU timer signal to every
thread over time.
There is not guarantee that this is true even after commit bcb7ee7902
("posix-timers: Prefer delivery of signals to the current thread") because
that commit only avoids waking up the sleeping process leader thread, but
that has nothing to do with the actual signal delivery.
As the signal is process wide the first thread which observes sigpending
and wins the race to lock sighand will deliver the signal. Testing shows
that this hangs on a regular base because some threads never win the race.
The comment "This primarily tests that the kernel does not favour any one."
is wrong. The kernel does favour a thread which hits the timer interrupt
when CLOCK_PROCESS_CPUTIME_ID expires.
Rewrite the test so it only checks that the group leader sleeping in join()
never receives SIGALRM and the thread which burns CPU cycles receives all
signals.
In older kernels which do not have commit bcb7ee7902 ("posix-timers:
Prefer delivery of signals to the current thread") the test-case fails
immediately, the very 1st tick wakes the leader up. Otherwise it quickly
succeeds after 100 ticks.
CI testing wants to use newer selftest versions on stable kernels. In this
case the test is guaranteed to fail.
So check in the failure case whether the kernel version is less than v6.3
and skip the test result in that case.

Currently the posix_timers test does not produce KTAP output but rather a
custom format. This means that we only get a pass/fail for the suite, not
for each individual test that the suite does. Convert to using the standard
kselftest output functions which result in KTAP output being generated.
As part of this fix the printing of diagnostics in the unlikely event that
the pthread APIs fail, these were using perror() but the API functions
directly return an error code instead of setting errno.

This patch uses addition assignment operator (+=) to append strings
instead of duplicating the variable name in mptcp_connect.sh and
mptcp_join.sh.
This can make the statements shorter.
Note: in mptcp_connect.sh, add a local variable extra in do_transfer to
save the various extra warning logs, using += to append it. And add a
new variable tc_info to save various tc info, also using += to append it.
This can make the code more readable and prepare for the next commit.

Replace seekdir() with rewinddir() in order to fix a localized glibc bug.
One of the glibc patches that stable Gentoo is using causes an improper
directory stream positioning bug on 32bit arm. That in turn ends up as a
floating point exception in iio_generic_buffer.
The attached patch provides a fix by using an equivalent function which
should not cause trouble for other distros and is easier to reason about
in general as it obviously always goes back to to the start.

The test type "make_warnings_file" should have no mandatory configuration
parameters other than the ones required by the "build" test type, because
its purpose is to create a file with build warnings that may or may not be
used by other subsequent tests. Currently, the only way to use it as a
stand-alone test is by setting POWER_CYCLE, CONSOLE, SSH_USER,
BUILD_TARGET, TARGET_IMAGE, REBOOT_TYPE and GRUB_MENU.

Parallel testing appears to show a race between allocating and setting
evsel ids. As there is a bounds check on the xyarray it yields a segv

Current MPTCP servers increment MPTcpExtMPCapableFallbackACK when they
accept non-MPC connections. As reported by Christoph, this is "surprising"
because the counter might become greater than MPTcpExtMPCapableSYNRX.
MPTcpExtMPCapableFallbackACK counter's name suggests it should only be
incremented when a connection was seen using MPTCP options, then a
fallback to TCP has been done. Let's do that by incrementing it when
the subflow context of an inbound MPC connection attempt is dropped.
Also, update mptcp_connect.sh kselftest, to ensure that the
above MIB does not increment in case a pure TCP client connects to a
MPTCP server.

shellcheck recently helped to prevent issues. It is then good to fix the
other harmless issues in order to spot "real" ones later.
Here, two categories of warnings are now ignored:
- SC2317: Command appears to be unreachable. The cleanup() function is
invoked indirectly via the EXIT trap.
- SC2086: Double quote to prevent globbing and word splitting. This is
recommended, but the current usage is correct and there is no need to
do all these modifications to be compliant with this rule.
For the modifications:
- SC2034: ksft_skip appears unused.
- SC2181: Check exit code directly with e.g. 'if mycmd;', not
indirectly with $?.
- SC2004: $/${} is unnecessary on arithmetic variables.
- SC2155: Declare and assign separately to avoid masking return
values.
- SC2166: Prefer [ p ] && [ q ] as [ p -a q ] is not well defined.
- SC2059: Don't use variables in the printf format string. Use printf
'..%s..' "$foo".
Now this script is shellcheck (0.9.0) compliant. We can easily spot new
issues.

The netdev CI runs in a VM and captures serial, so stdout and
stderr get combined. Because there's a missing new line in
stderr the test ends up corrupting KTAP:

UDP tunnel packets can't be GRO in-between their endpoints as this
causes different issues. The UDP GRO fwd vxlan tests were relying on
this and their expectations have to be fixed.
We keep both vxlan tests and expected no GRO from happening. The vxlan
UDP GRO bench test was removed as it's not providing any valuable
information now.

There's a bug in pm_nl_check_endpoint(), 'dev' didn't be parsed correctly.
If calling it in the 2nd test of endpoint_tests() too, it fails with an
error like this:

The reason is '$2' should be set to 'dev', not '$1'. This patch fixes it.

Locally generated IP multicast packets (such as the ones used in the
test) do not perform routing and simply egress the bound device.
However, as explained in commit 8bcfb4ae4d ("selftests: forwarding:
Fix failing tests with old libnet"), old versions of libnet (used by
mausezahn) do not use the "SO_BINDTODEVICE" socket option. Specifically,
the library started using the option for IPv6 sockets in version 1.1.6
and for IPv4 sockets in version 1.2. This explains why on Ubuntu - which
uses version 1.1.6 - the IPv4 overlay tests are failing whereas the IPv6
ones are passing.
Fix by specifying the source and destination MAC of the packets which
will cause mausezahn to use a packet socket instead of an IP socket.

Following issue was observed while running the uffd-unit-tests selftest
on ARM devices. On x86_64 no issues were detected:
pthread_create followed by fork caused deadlock in certain cases wherein
fork required some work to be completed by the created thread. Used
synchronization to ensure that created thread's start function has started
before invoking fork.

The sigbus-wp test requires the UFFD_FEATURE_WP_HUGETLBFS_SHMEM flag for
shmem and hugetlb targets. Otherwise it is not backwards compatible with
kernels <5.19 and fails with EINVAL.

perf top errors out on a hybrid machine
$perf top
Error:
The cycles:P event is not supported.
The perf top expects that the "cycles" is collected on all CPUs in the
system. But for hybrid there is no single "cycles" event which can cover
all CPUs. Perf has to split it into two cycles events, e.g.,
cpu_core/cycles/ and cpu_atom/cycles/. Each event has its own CPU mask.
If a event is opened on the unsupported CPU. The open fails. That's the
reason of the above error out.
Perf should only open the cycles event on the corresponding CPU. The
commit ef91871c96 ("perf evlist: Propagate user CPU maps intersecting
core PMU maps") intersect the requested CPU map with the CPU map of the
PMU. Use the evsel's cpus to replace user_requested_cpus.
The evlist's threads are also propagated to the evsel's threads in
__perf_evlist__propagate_maps(). For a system-wide event, perf appends
a dummy event and assign it to the evsel's threads. For a per-thread
event, the evlist's thread_map is assigned to the evsel's threads. The
same as the other tools, e.g., perf record, using the evsel's threads
when opening an event.

The test counter 'test_cnt' should not be returned in diag.sh, e.g. what
if only the 4th test fail? Will do 'exit 4' which is 'exit ${KSFT_SKIP}',
the whole test will be marked as skipped instead of 'failed'!
So we should do ret=${KSFT_FAIL} instead.

This option is needed to continue booting with QEMU. Recent changes that
made this optional meant that it gets unset in the test harness, and so
WireGuard CI has been broken. Fix this by simply setting this option.

While mq_perf_tests runs with the default kselftest timeout limit, which
is 45 seconds, the test takes about 60 seconds to complete on i3.metal
AWS instances. Hence, the test always times out. Increase the timeout
to 180 seconds.

The tests send 100 pings in 0.1 second intervals and force a timeout of
11 seconds, which is borderline (especially on debug kernels), resulting
in random failures in netdev CI [1].
Fix by increasing the timeout to 20 seconds. It should not prolong the
test unless something is wrong, in which case the test will rightfully
fail.

Currently the perf tool doesn't detect support for extended event types
on Apple M1/M2 systems, and will not auto-expand plain PERF_EVENT_TYPE
hardware events into per-PMU events. This is due to the detection of
extended event types not handling mandatory filters required by the
M1/M2 PMU driver.
PMU drivers and the core perf_events code can require that
perf_event_attr::exclude_* filters are configured in a specific way and
may reject certain configurations of filters, for example:
(a) Many PMUs lack support for any event filtering, and require all
perf_event_attr::exclude_* bits to be clear. This includes Alpha's
CPU PMU, and ARM CPU PMUs prior to the introduction of PMUv2 in
ARMv7,
(b) When /proc/sys/kernel/perf_event_paranoid >= 2, the perf core
requires that perf_event_attr::exclude_kernel is set.
(c) The Apple M1/M2 PMU requires that perf_event_attr::exclude_guest is
set as the hardware PMU does not count while a guest is running (but
might be extended in future to do so).
In is_event_supported(), we try to account for cases (a) and (b), first
attempting to open an event without any filters, and if this fails,
retrying with perf_event_attr::exclude_kernel set. We do not account for
case (c), or any other filters that drivers could theoretically require
to be set.
Thus is_event_supported() will fail to detect support for any events
targeting an Apple M1/M2 PMU, even where events would be supported with
perf_event_attr:::exclude_guest set.
Since commit:
82fe2e45cd ("perf pmus: Check if we can encode the PMU number in perf_event_attr.type")
... we use is_event_supported() to detect support for extended types,
with the PMU ID encoded into the perf_event_attr::type. As above, on an
Apple M1/M2 system this will always fail to detect that the event is
supported, and consequently we fail to detect support for extended types
even when these are supported, as they have been since commit:
5c81672865 ("arm_pmu: Add PERF_PMU_CAP_EXTENDED_HW_TYPE capability")
Due to this, the perf tool will not automatically expand plain
PERF_TYPE_HARDWARE events into per-PMU events, even when all the
necessary kernel support is present.
This patch updates is_event_supported() to additionally try opening
events with perf_event_attr::exclude_guest set, allowing support for
events to be detected on Apple M1/M2 systems. I believe that this is
sufficient for all contemporary CPU PMU drivers, though in future it may
be necessary to check for other combinations of filter bits.
I've deliberately changed the check to not expect a specific error code
for missing filters, as today ;the kernel may return a number of
different error codes for missing filters (e.g. -EACCESS, -EINVAL, or
-EOPNOTSUPP) depending on why and where the filter configuration is
rejected, and retrying for any error is more robust.
Note that this does not remove the need for commit:

Counts were switched from the scaled saved value form to the
aggregated count to avoid double accounting. When this happened the
removing of scaling for a count should have been removed, however, it
wasn't and this wasn't observed as it normally doesn't matter because
a counter's scale is 1. A problem was observed with RAPL events that
are scaled.

Events in metrics cannot use '/' as a separator, it would be
recognized as a divide, so they use '@'. The '@' is recognized in the
metricgroups code and changed to '/', do the same in the has_event
function so that the parsing is only tried without the @s.

The child_process for addr2line sets in and out to -1 so that pipes
get created. It is the caller's responsibility to close the pipes,
finish_command doesn't do it. Add the missed closes.

When building perf with BPF skels we either copy the minimalistic
tools/perf/util/bpf_skel/vmlinux/vmlinux.h or use bpftool to generate a
vmlinux from BTF, storing the result in $(SKEL_OUT)/vmlinux.h.
We need to remove that when doing a 'make -C tools/perf clean', fix it.

The msr PMU is a software one, meaning msr events may be grouped
with events in a hardware context. As the msr PMU isn't marked as a
software PMU by perf_pmu__is_software, groups with the msr PMU in
are broken and the msr events placed in a different group. This
may lead to multiplexing errors where a hardware event isn't
counted while the msr event, such as tsc, is. Fix all of this by
marking the msr PMU as software, which agrees with the driver.

It's hard to distinguish the default cycles events among hybrid PMUs.
For example,
$ perf top
Available samples
385 cycles:P
903 cycles:P
The other tool, e.g., perf record, uniforms the event name and adds the
hybrid PMU name before opening the event. So the events can be easily
distinguished. Apply the same methodology for the perf top as well.
The evlist__uniquify_name() will be invoked by both record and top.
Move it to util/evlist.c

If SAVE and RESTORE unwind hints are in different basic blocks, and
objtool sees the RESTORE before the SAVE, it errors out with:
vmlinux.o: warning: objtool: vmw_port_hb_in+0x242: objtool isn't smart enough to handle this CFI save/restore combo
In such a case, defer following the RESTORE block until the
straight-line path gets followed later.

The config file contains a partial kernel configuration to be used by
`virtme-configkernel --custom'. The presumption is that the config file
contains all Kconfig options needed by the selftests from the directory.
In net/forwarding/config, many are missing, which manifests as spurious
failures when running the selftests, with messages about unknown device
types, qdisc kinds or classifier actions. Add the missing configurations.
Tested the resulting configuration using virtme-ng as follows:
# vng -b -f tools/testing/selftests/net/forwarding/config
# vng --user root
(within the VM:)
# make -C tools/testing/selftests TARGETS=net/forwarding run_tests

The .BTF_ids section is pre-filled with zeroed BTF ID entries during the
build and afterwards patched by resolve_btfids with correct values.
Since resolve_btfids always writes in host-native endianness, it relies
on libelf to do the translation when the target ELF is cross-compiled to
a different endianness (this was introduced in commit 61e8aeda93
("bpf: Fix libelf endian handling in resolv_btfids")).
Unfortunately, the translation will corrupt the flags fields of SET8
entries because these were written during vmlinux compilation and are in
the correct endianness already. This will lead to numerous selftests
failures such as:

Instead of using magic offsets to access BTF ID set data, leverage types
from btf_ids.h (btf_id_set and btf_id_set8) which define the actual
layout of the data. Thanks to this change, set sorting should also
continue working if the layout changes.
This requires to sync the definition of 'struct btf_id_set8' from
include/linux/btf_ids.h to tools/include/linux/btf_ids.h. We don't sync
the rest of the file at the moment, b/c that would require to also sync
multiple dependent headers and we don't need any other defs from
btf_ids.h.

When the feature_flags and xdp_zc_max_segs fields were added to the libbpf
bpf_xdp_query_opts, the code writing them did not use the OPTS_SET() macro.
This causes libbpf to write to those fields unconditionally, which means
that programs compiled against an older version of libbpf (with a smaller
size of the bpf_xdp_query_opts struct) will have its stack corrupted by
libbpf writing out of bounds.
The patch adding the feature_flags field has an early bail out if the
feature_flags field is not part of the opts struct (via the OPTS_HAS)
macro, but the patch adding xdp_zc_max_segs does not. For consistency, this
fix just changes the assignments to both fields to use the OPTS_SET()
macro.

After a recent change in the vmtest runner, this test started failing
sporadically.
Investigation showed that this test was subject to race condition which
got exacerbated after the vm runner change. The symptoms being that the
logic that waited for an ICMPv4 packet is naive and will break if 5 or
more non-ICMPv4 packets make it to tap0.
When ICMPv6 is enabled, the kernel will generate traffic such as ICMPv6
router solicitation...
On a system with good performance, the expected ICMPv4 packet would very
likely make it to the network interface promptly, but on a system with
poor performance, those "guarantees" do not hold true anymore.
Given that the test is IPv4 only, this change disable IPv6 in the test
netns by setting `net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6` to 1.
This essentially leaves "ping" as the sole generator of traffic in the
network namespace.
If this test was to be made IPv6 compatible, the logic in
`wait_for_packet` would need to be modified.
In more details...
At a high level, the test does:
- create a new namespace
- in `setup_redirect_target` set up lo, tap0, and link_err interfaces as
well as add 2 routes that attaches ingress/egress sections of
`test_lwt_redirect.bpf.o` to the xmit path.
- in `send_and_capture_test_packets` send an ICMP packet and read off
the tap interface (using `wait_for_packet`) to check that a ICMP packet
with the right size is read.
`wait_for_packet` will try to read `max_retry` (5) times from the tap0
fd looking for an ICMPv4 packet matching some criteria.
The problem is that when we set up the `tap0` interface, because IPv6 is
enabled by default, traffic such as Router solicitation is sent through
tap0, as in:

When running in a VM which potential resource contrains, the odds that calling
`ping` is not scheduled very soon after bringing `tap0` up increases,
and with this the chances to get our ICMP packet pushed to position 6+
in the network trace.
To confirm this indeed solves the issue, I ran the test 100 times in a
row with:

After the previous patch that speeded up the test (by avoiding neigh
discovery in IPv6), the BPF CI occasionally hits this error:
rcv tstamp unexpected pkt rcv tstamp: actual 0 == expected 0
The test complains about the cmsg returned from the recvmsg() does not
have the rcv timestamp. Setting skb->tstamp or not is
controlled by a kernel static key "netstamp_needed_key". The static
key is enabled whenever this is at least one sk with the SOCK_TIMESTAMP
set.
The test_redirect_dtime does use setsockopt() to turn on
the SOCK_TIMESTAMP for the reading sk. In the kernel
net_enable_timestamp() has a delay to enable the "netstamp_needed_key"
when CONFIG_JUMP_LABEL is set. This potential delay is the likely reason
for packet missing rcv timestamp occasionally.
This patch is to create udp sockets with SOCK_TIMESTAMP set.
It sends and receives some packets until the received packet
has a rcv timestamp. It currently retries at most 5 times with 1s
in between. This should be enough to wait for the "netstamp_needed_key".
It then holds on to the socket and only closes it at the end of the test.
This guarantees that the test has the "netstamp_needed_key" key turned
on from the beginning.
To simplify the udp sockets setup, they are sending/receiving packets
in the same netns (ns_dst is used) and communicate over the "lo" dev.
Hence, the patch enables the "lo" dev in the ns_dst.

BPF CI has been reporting the tc_redirect_dtime test failing
from time to time:

The connect_to_fd failure (EHOSTUNREACH) is from the
test_tcp_clear_dtime() test and it is the very first IPv6 traffic
after setting up all the links, addresses, and routes.
The symptom is this first connect() is always slow. In my setup, it
could take ~3s.
After some tracing and tcpdump, the slowness is mostly spent in
the neighbor solicitation in the "ns_fwd" namespace while
the "ns_src" and "ns_dst" are fine.
I forced the kernel to drop the neighbor solicitation messages.
I can then reproduce EHOSTUNREACH. What actually happen could be:
- the neighbor advertisement came back a little slow.
- the "ns_fwd" namespace concluded a neighbor discovery failure
and triggered the ndisc_error_report() => ip6_link_failure() =>
icmpv6_send(skb, ICMPV6_DEST_UNREACH, ICMPV6_ADDR_UNREACH, 0)
- the client's connect() reports EHOSTUNREACH after receiving
the ICMPV6_DEST_UNREACH message.
The neigh table of both "ns_src" and "ns_dst" namespace has already
been manually populated but not the "ns_fwd" namespace. This patch
fixes it by manually populating the neigh table also in the "ns_fwd"
namespace.
Although the namespace configuration part had been existed before
the tc_redirect_dtime test, still Fixes-tagging the patch when
the tc_redirect_dtime test was added since it is the only test
hitting it so far.

This patch allows to auto create BPF_MAP_TYPE_ARRAY_OF_MAPS and
BPF_MAP_TYPE_HASH_OF_MAPS with values of BPF_MAP_TYPE_PERF_EVENT_ARRAY
by bpf_object__load().
Previous behaviour created a zero filled btf_map_def for inner maps and
tried to use it for a map creation but the linux kernel forbids to create
a BPF_MAP_TYPE_PERF_EVENT_ARRAY map with max_entries=0.

It is possible for bpf_kfunc_call_test_release() to be called from
bpf_map_free_deferred() when bpf_testmod is already unloaded and
perf_test_stuct.cnt which it tries to decrease is no longer in memory.
This patch tries to fix the issue by waiting for all references to be
dropped in bpf_testmod_exit().
The issue can be triggered by running 'test_progs -t map_kptr' in 6.5,
but is obscured in 6.6 by d119357d07 ("rcu-tasks: Treat only
synchronous grace periods urgently").

Add a test case into the netlink checks that will show the number of
nested action recursions won't exceed 16. Going to 17 on a small
clone call isn't enough to exhaust the stack on (most) systems, so
it should be safe to run even on systems that don't have the fix
applied.

When running the simult_flow selftest in slow environments -- e.g. QEmu
without KVM support --, the results can be unstable. This selftest
checks if the aggregated bandwidth is (almost) fully used as expected.
To help improving the stability while still keeping the same validation
in place, the BW and the delay are reduced to lower the pressure on the
CPU.

Now both a v4 address and a v4-mapped address are supported when
destroying a userspace pm subflow, this patch adds a second subflow
to "userspace pm add & remove address" test, and two subflows could
be removed two different ways, one with the v4mapped and one with v4.

To avoid duplicated code in different MPTCP selftests, we can add
and use helpers defined in mptcp_lib.sh.
is_v6() helper is defined in mptcp_connect.sh, mptcp_join.sh and
mptcp_sockopt.sh, so export it into mptcp_lib.sh and rename it as
mptcp_lib_is_v6(). Use this new helper in all scripts.

This patch adds a new argument namespace to userspace_pm_add_addr() and
userspace_pm_add_sf() to make these two helper more versatile.
Add two more versatile helpers for userspace pm remove subflow or address:
userspace_pm_rm_addr() and userspace_pm_rm_sf(). The original test helpers
userspace_pm_rm_sf_addr_ns1() and userspace_pm_rm_sf_addr_ns2() can be
replaced by these new helpers.

This patch adds a new helper chk_subflows_total(), in it use the newly
added counter mptcpi_subflows_total to get the "correct" amount of
subflows, including the initial one.
To be compatible with old 'ss' or kernel versions not supporting this
counter, get the total subflows by listing TCP connections that are
MPTCP subflows:

This patch adds a new helper get_info_value(), using 'sed' command to
parse the value of the given item name in the line with the given keyword,
to make chk_mptcp_info() and pedit_action_pkts() more readable.
Also add another helper evts_get_info() to use get_info_value() to parse
the output of 'pm_nl_ctl events' command, to make all the userspace pm
selftests more readable, both in mptcp_join.sh and userspace_pm.sh.

We never increment the group number iterator, so all groups
get recorded into index 0 of the mcast_groups[] array.
As a result YNL can only handle using the last group.
For example using the "netdev" sample on kernel with
page pool commands results in:
$ ./samples/netdev
YNL: Multicast group 'mgmt' not found
Most families have only one multicast group, so this hasn't
been noticed. Plus perhaps developers usually test the last
group which would have worked.

To avoid duplicated code in different MPTCP selftests, we can add
and use helpers defined in mptcp_lib.sh.
The helper get_counter() in mptcp_join.sh and get_mib_counter() in
mptcp_connect.sh have the same functionality, export get_counter() into
mptcp_lib.sh and rename it as mptcp_lib_get_counter(). Use this new
helper instead of get_counter() and get_mib_counter().
Use this helper in test_prio() in userspace_pm.sh too instead of
open-coding.

Since the "Fixes" commits mentioned below, the newly added "userspace
pm" subtests of mptcp_join selftests are launching the whole transfer in
the background, do the required checks, then wait for the end of
transfer.
There is no need to wait longer, especially because the checks at the
end of the transfer are ignored (which is fine). This saves quite a few
seconds on slow environments.
While at it, use 'mptcp_lib_kill_wait()' helper everywhere, instead of
on a specific one with 'kill_tests_wait()'.

Make sure to free the already-parsed mcast_groups if
we don't get an ack from the kernel when reading family info.
This is part of the ynl_sock_create() error path, so we won't
get a call to ynl_sock_destroy() to free them later.

There is one common error handler in ynl - ynl_cb_error().
It expects priv to be a pointer to struct ynl_parse_arg AKA yarg.
To avoid potential crashes if we encounter a stray NLMSG_ERROR
always pass yarg as priv (or a struct which has it as the first
member).
ynl_cb_null() has a similar problem directly - it expects yarg
but priv passed by the caller is ys.
Found by code inspection.

In bond priority testing, we set the primary interface to eth1 and add
eth0,1,2 to bond in serial. This is OK in normal times. But when in
debug kernel, the bridge port that eth0,1,2 connected would start
slowly (enter blocking, forwarding state), which caused the primary
interface down for a while after enslaving and active slave changed.
Here is a test log from Jakub's debug test[1].

The test Davide added in commit ca22da2fbd ("act_mirred: use the backlog
for nested calls to mirred ingress") hangs our testing VMs every 10 or so
runs, with the familiar tcp_v4_rcv -> tcp_v4_rcv deadlock reported by
lockdep.
The problem as previously described by Davide (see Link) is that
if we reverse flow of traffic with the redirect (egress -> ingress)
we may reach the same socket which generated the packet. And we may
still be holding its socket lock. The common solution to such deadlocks
is to put the packet in the Rx backlog, rather than run the Rx path
inline. Do that for all egress -> ingress reversals, not just once
we started to nest mirred calls.
In the past there was a concern that the backlog indirection will
lead to loss of error reporting / less accurate stats. But the current
workaround does not seem to address the issue.

Extend the bpf_fib_lookup() helper by making it to return the source
IPv4/IPv6 address if the BPF_FIB_LOOKUP_SRC flag is set.
For example, the following snippet can be used to derive the desired
source IP address:

The inability to derive the proper source address may cause malfunctions
in BPF-based dataplanes for hosts containing netdevs with more than one
routable IP address or for multi-homed hosts.
For example, Cilium implements packet masquerading in BPF. If an
egressing netdev to which the Cilium's BPF prog is attached has
multiple IP addresses, then only one [hardcoded] IP address can be used for
masquerading. This breaks connectivity if any other IP address should have
been selected instead, for example, when a public and private addresses
are attached to the same egress interface.
The change was tested with Cilium [1].
Nikolay Aleksandrov helped to figure out the IPv6 addr selection.

It is important to have a unique (sub)test name in TAP, because some CI
environments drop tests with duplicated name.
Some 'cestab' subtests from the diag selftest had the same names, e.g.:

Now the previous value is taken, to have different names, e.g.:

While at it, the 'after flush' info is added, similar to what is done
with the 'in use' subtests. Also inspired by these 'in use' subtests,
'many' is displayed instead of a large number:

Since the 'Fixes' commit mentioned below, and if the kernel being tested
doesn't support the 'fullmesh' flag, this error will be printed:
netlink error -22 (Invalid argument)
./pm_nl_ctl: bailing out due to netlink error[s]
But that can be normal if the kernel doesn't support the feature, no
need to print this worrying error message while everything else looks
OK. So we can mute stderr. Failures will still be detected if any.

It is important to have a unique (sub)test name in TAP, because some CI
environments drop tests with duplicated names.
Some subtests from the userspace_pm selftest had the same names. That's
because different subflows are created (and deleted) between the same
pair of IP addresses.
Simply adding the destination port in the name is then enough to have
different names, because the destination port is always different.
Note that adding such info takes a bit more space, so we need to
increase a bit the width to print the name, simply to keep all the
'[ OK ]' aligned as before.

If HUGETLBFS is not enabled then the default_huge_page_size function will
return 0 and cause a divide by 0 error. Add a check to see if the huge page
size is 0 and skip the hugetlb tests if it is.

When building the mm tests with a riscv32 compiler, we see a range
of shift-count-overflow errors from shifting 1UL by more than 32 bits
in do_mmaps(). Since, the relevant code is only called from code that
is gated by `__riscv_xlen == 64`, we can just apply the same gating
to do_mmaps().

To avoid duplicated code in different MPTCP selftests, we can add
and use helpers defined in mptcp_lib.sh.
Export kill_wait() helper in userspace_pm.sh into mptcp_lib.sh and
rename it as mptcp_lib_kill_wait(). It can be used to instead of
kill_wait() in mptcp_join.sh. Use the new helper in both scripts.

If a CI executes the same selftest multiple times with different
options, all results from the same subtests will have the same title,
which confuse the CI. With the same title printed in TAP, the tests are
considered as the same ones.
Now, it is possible to override this prefix by using MPTCP_LIB_KSFT_TEST
env var, and have a different title.
While at it, use 'basename' to remove the suffix as well instead of
using an extra 'sed'.

On very slow environments -- e.g. when QEmu is used without KVM --,
mptcp_join.sh selftest can take a bit more than 20 minutes. Bump the
default timeout by 50% as it seems normal to take that long on some
environments.
When a debug kernel config is used, this selftest will take even longer,
but that's certainly not a common test env to consider for the timeout.
The Fixes tag that has been picked here is there simply to help having
this patch backported to older stable versions. It is difficult to point
to the exact commit that made some env reaching the timeout from time to
time.

Since the commit mentioned below, 'mptcp_join' selftests is using
IPTables to add rules to the Filter table.
It is then required to have IP_NF_FILTER KConfig.
This KConfig is usually enabled by default in many defconfig, but we
recently noticed that some CI were running our selftests without them
enabled.
