28f194da4a tty: make tty_ldisc_ops::hangup return void
The documentation says that the return value of tty_ldisc_ops::hangup
hook is ignored. And it really is, so there is no point for its return
type to be int. Switch it to void and all the hooks too.

4faf31b434 cxl/mbox: Move mailbox and other non-PCI specific infrastructure to the core
Now that the internals of mailbox operations are abstracted from the PCI
specifics a bulk of infrastructure can move to the core.

The CXL_PMEM driver intends to proxy LIBNVDIMM UAPI and driver requests
to the equivalent functionality provided by the CXL hardware mailbox
interface. In support of that intent move the mailbox implementation to
a shared location for the CXL_PCI driver native IOCTL path and CXL_PMEM
nvdimm command proxy path to share.

A unit test framework seeks to implement a unit test backend transport
for mailbox commands to communicate mocked up payloads. It can reuse all
of the mailbox infrastructure minus the PCI specifics, so that also gets
moved to the core.

Finally with the mailbox infrastructure and ioctl handling being
transport generic there is no longer any need to pass file
file_operations to devm_cxl_add_memdev(). That allows all the ioctl
boilerplate to move into the core for unit test reuse.

No functional change intended, just code movement.

9ea9b9c483 remove the lightnvm subsystem
Lightnvm supports the OCSSD 1.x and 2.0 specs which were early attempts
to produce Open Channel SSDs and never made it into the NVMe spec
proper. They have since been superceeded by NVMe enhancements such
as ZNS support. Remove the support per the deprecation schedule.

Modernise the documentation to make it more precise and update the use of
pixel rate control and various other changes. In particular:

- Use non-proportional font for file names, properties as well as

- The unit of the HBLANK control is pixels, not lines.

- The unit of PIXEL_RATE control is pixels per second, not Hz.

- Merge common requirements for CSI-2 and parallel busses.

- Include all DT properties needed for assigned clocks.

- Fix referencing the link rate control.

- SMIA driver's new name is CCS driver.

- The PIXEL_RATE control denotes pixel rate on the pixel array on camera
sensors. Do not suggest it is used to tell the maximum pixel rate on the
  bus anymore.

- Improve ReST syntax (plain struct and function names).

- Remove the suggestion to use s_power() in receiver drivers.

- Make MIPI website URL use HTTPS, add Wikipedia links to BT.601 and
  BT.656.

f3f1017a98 docs: gpio: explain GPIOD_OUT_* values and toggling active low
I was confused about the gpiod_flags values and thought that
GPIOD_OUT_LOW and GPIOD_OUT_HIGH set the line to be active low / active
high. This is not true, but I got the misconception because the flags
GPIOD_OUT_*_OPEN_DRAIN do change line configuration and there's a
subchapter about *active low* and *open drain* semantics.

Add an explicit mention that the initial value is a logical value (and
not the line configuration or physical line level). Also add a mention
of the function gpiod_toggle_active_low which was previously missing
from this document.

hint to the PWM core about the PWM usage, enabling PWM providers to
 implement various optimizations.

There's also a fair bit of simplification here with the addition of some
device-managed helpers as well as unification between the DT and ACPI
 firmware interfaces.

Pull CXL (Compute Express Link) updates from Dan Williams:
"This subsystem is still in the build-out phase as the bulk of the
update is improvements to enumeration and fleshing out the device
model. In terms of new features, more mailbox commands have been added
to the allowed-list in support of persistent memory provisioning
  support targeting v5.15.

The critical update from an enumeration perspective is support for the
CXL Fixed Memory Window Structure that indicates to Linux which system
physical address ranges decode to the CXL Host Bridges in the system.
This allows the driver to detect which address ranges have been mapped
by firmware and what address ranges are available for future hotplug.

So, again, mostly skeleton this round, with more meat targeting v5.15.

  Summary:

   - Add support for the CXL Fixed Memory Window Structure, a recent

a32b344e6f This is the bulk of pin control changes for the v5.14 kernel:
New drivers:

 - Last merge window we created a driver for the Ralink RT2880.
We are now moving the Ralink SoC pin control drivers out of the MIPS
architecture code and into the pin control subsystem. This concerns
   RT288X, MT7620, RT305X, RT3883 and MT7621.

 - Qualcomm SM6125 SoC pin control driver.

 - Qualcomm spmi-gpio support for PM7325.

 - Qualcomm spmi-mpp also handles PMI8994 (just a compatible string)

 - Mediatek MT8365 SoC pin controller.

 - New device HID for the AMD GPIO controller.

 Improvements:

 - Pin bias config support for a slew of Renesas pin controllers.

 - Incremental improvements and non-urgent bug fixes to the Renesas
   SoC drivers.

 - Implement irq_set_wake on the AMD pin controller so we can wake
   up from external pin events.

 Misc:

 - Devicetree bindings for the Apple M1 pin controller, we will probably
see a proper driver for this soon as well.

Merge tag 'pinctrl-v5.14-1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/linusw/linux-pinctrl

Pull pin control updates from Linus Walleij:
"This is the bulk of pin control changes for the v5.14 kernel. Not so
much going on. No core changes, just drivers.

The most interesting would be that MIPS Ralink is migrating to pin
control and we have some bindings but not yet code for the Apple M1
  pin controller.

  New drivers:

   - Last merge window we created a driver for the Ralink RT2880. We are
now moving the Ralink SoC pin control drivers out of the MIPS
architecture code and into the pin control subsystem. This concerns
     RT288X, MT7620, RT305X, RT3883 and MT7621.

   - Qualcomm SM6125 SoC pin control driver.

   - Qualcomm spmi-gpio support for PM7325.

   - Qualcomm spmi-mpp also handles PMI8994 (just a compatible string)

   - Mediatek MT8365 SoC pin controller.

   - New device HID for the AMD GPIO controller.

  Improvements:

   - Pin bias config support for a slew of Renesas pin controllers.

   - Incremental improvements and non-urgent bug fixes to the Renesas
     SoC drivers.

   - Implement irq_set_wake on the AMD pin controller so we can wake up
     from external pin events.

  Misc:

   - Devicetree bindings for the Apple M1 pin controller, we will
probably see a proper driver for this soon as well"

88a21f265c vfio/mdev: Allow the mdev_parent_ops to specify the device driver to bind
This allows a mdev driver to opt out of using vfio_mdev.c, instead the
driver will provide a 'struct mdev_driver' and register directly with the
driver core.

Much of mdev_parent_ops becomes unused in this mode:
- create()/remove() are done via the mdev_driver probe()/remove()
- mdev_attr_groups becomes mdev_driver driver.dev_groups
- Wrapper function callbacks are replaced with the same ones from
  struct vfio_device_ops

bdb8d06dfe dmabuf: Add the capability to expose DMA-BUF stats in sysfs
Overview
========
The patch adds DMA-BUF statistics to /sys/kernel/dmabuf/buffers. It
allows statistics to be enabled for each DMA-BUF in sysfs by enabling
the config CONFIG_DMABUF_SYSFS_STATS.

The following stats will be exposed by the interface:

/sys/kernel/dmabuf/buffers/<inode_number>/exporter_name
/sys/kernel/dmabuf/buffers/<inode_number>/size
/sys/kernel/dmabuf/buffers/<inode_number>/attachments/<attach_uid>/device
/sys/kernel/dmabuf/buffers/<inode_number>/attachments/<attach_uid>/map_counter

The inode_number is unique for each DMA-BUF and was added earlier [1]
in order to allow userspace to track DMA-BUF usage across different
processes.

Use Cases
=========
The interface provides a way to gather DMA-BUF per-buffer statistics
from production devices. These statistics will be used to derive DMA-BUF
per-exporter stats and per-device usage stats for Android Bug reports.
The corresponding userspace changes can be found at [2].
Telemetry tools will also capture this information(along with other
memory metrics) periodically as well as on important events like a
foreground app kill (which might have been triggered by Low Memory
Killer). It will also contribute to provide a snapshot of the system
memory usage on other events such as OOM kills and Application Not
Responding events.

Background
==========
Currently, there are two existing interfaces that provide information
about DMA-BUFs.
1) /sys/kernel/debug/dma_buf/bufinfo
debugfs is however unsuitable to be mounted in production systems and
cannot be considered as an alternative to the sysfs interface being
proposed.
2) proc/<pid>/fdinfo/<fd>
The proc/<pid>/fdinfo/<fd> files expose information about DMA-BUF fds.
However, the existing procfs interfaces can only provide information
about the buffers for which processes hold fds or have the buffers
mmapped into their address space. Since the procfs interfaces alone
cannot provide a full picture of all DMA-BUFs in the system, there is
the need for an alternate interface to provide this information on
production systems.

The patch contains the following major improvements over v1:
1) Each attachment is represented by its own directory to allow creating
a symlink to the importing device and to also provide room for future
expansion.
2) The number of distinct mappings of each attachment is exposed in a
separate file.
3) The per-buffer statistics are now in /sys/kernel/dmabuf/buffers
inorder to make the interface expandable in future.

All of the improvements above are based on suggestions/feedback from
Daniel Vetter and Christian König.

A shell script that can be run on a classic Linux environment to read
out the DMA-BUF statistics can be found at [3](suggested by John
Stultz).

4812be97c0 cxl/acpi: Introduce the root of a cxl_port topology
While CXL builds upon the PCI software model for enumeration and
endpoint control, a static platform component is required to bootstrap
the CXL memory layout. Similar to how ACPI identifies root-level PCI
memory resources, ACPI data enumerates the address space and interleave
configuration for CXL Memory.

In addition to identifying host bridges, ACPI is responsible for
enumerating the CXL memory space that can be addressed by downstream
decoders. This is similar to the requirement for ACPI to publish
resources via the _CRS method for PCI host bridges. Specifically, ACPI
publishes a table, CXL Early Discovery Table (CEDT), which includes a
list of CXL Memory resources, CXL Fixed Memory Window Structures
(CFMWS).

For now, introduce the core infrastructure for a cxl_port hierarchy
starting with a root level anchor represented by the ACPI0017 device.

Follow on changes model support for the configurable decode capabilities
of cxl_port instances, i.e. CXL switch support.

7652dd2c5c USB: core: Check buffer length matches wLength for control transfers
A type of inconsistency that can show up in control URBs is when the
setup packet's wLength value does not match the URB's
transfer_buffer_length field.  The two should always be equal;
differences could lead to information leaks or undefined behavior for
OUT transfers or overruns for IN transfers.

This patch adds a test for such mismatches during URB submission. If
the test fails, the submission is rejected with a -EBADR error code
(which is not used elsewhere in the USB core), and a debugging message
is logged for people interested in tracking down these errors.

21e9f76733 cxl: Rename mem to pci
As the driver has undergone development, it's become clear that the
majority [entirety?] of the current functionality in mem.c is actually a
layer encapsulating functionality exposed through PCI based
interactions. This layer can be used either in isolation or to provide
functionality for higher level functionality.

CXL capabilities exist in a parallel domain to PCIe. CXL devices are
enumerable and controllable via "legacy" PCIe mechanisms; however, their
CXL capabilities are a superset of PCIe. For example, a CXL device may
be connected to a non-CXL capable PCIe root port, and therefore will not
be able to participate in CXL.mem or CXL.cache operations, but can still
be accessed through PCIe mechanisms for CXL.io operations.

To properly represent the PCI nature of this driver, and in preparation for
introducing a new driver for the CXL.mem / HDM decoder (Host-managed Device
Memory) capabilities of a CXL memory expander, rename mem.c to pci.c so that
mem.c is available for this new driver.

The result of the change is that there is a clear layering distinction
in the driver, and a systems administrator may load only the cxl_pci
module and gain access to such operations as, firmware update, offline
provisioning of devices, and error collection. In addition to freeing up
the file name for another purpose, there are two primary reasons this is
useful,
    1. Acting upon devices which don't have full CXL capabilities. This
may happen for instance if the CXL device is connected in a CXL
unaware part of the platform topology.
    2. Userspace-first provisioning for devices without kernel driver
interference. This may be useful when provisioning a new device
in a specific manner that might otherwise be blocked or prevented
by the real CXL mem driver.

65ec0a7d24 This is the bulk of the pin control changes for the v5.13 kernel cycle
Core changes:

 - A semantic change to handle pinmux and pinconf in explicit order
while up until now we depended on the semantic order in the
device tree. The device tree is a functional programming
language and does not imply any order, so the right thing is
for the pin control core to provide these semantics.

 - Add a new pinmux-select debugfs file which makes it possible to
go in and select functions for a pin manually (iteratively, at
   the prompt) for debugging purposes.

 - Fixes to gpio regmap handling for a new pin control driver
   making use of regmap-gpio.

 - Use octal permissions on debugfs files.

 New drivers:

 - A massive rewrite of the former custom pin control driver for
MIPS Broadcom devices to instead use the pin control subsystem.
   New pin control drivers for BCM6345, BCM6328, BCM6358, BCM6362,
BCM6368, BCM63268 and BCM6318 SoC variants are implemented.

 - Support for PM8350, PM8350B, PM8350C, PMK8350, PMR735A and
PMR735B in the Qualcomm PMIC GPIO driver. Also the two GPIOs
   on PM8008 are supported.

 - Support for the Rockchip RK3568/RK3566 pin controller.

 - Support for Ingenic JZ4730, JZ4750, JZ4755, JZ4775 and
   X2000.

 - Support for Mediatek MTK8195.

 - Add a new Xilinx ZynqMP pin control driver.

 Driver improvements and non-urgent fixes:

 - Modularization and improvements of the Rockchip drivers.

 - Some new pins added to the description of new Renesas SoCs.

 - Clarifications of the GPIO base calculation in the Intel driver.

 - Fix the function names for the MPP54 and MPP55 pins in the Armada
   CP110 pin controller.

 - GPIO wakeup interrupt map for Qualcomm SC7280 and SM8350.

 - Support for ACPI probing of the Qualcomm SC8180x.

 - Fix interrupt clear status on rockchip

 - Fix some missing pins on the Ingenic JZ4770, some semantic
fixes for the behaviour of the Ingenic pin controller.
   Add DMIC pins for JZ4780, X1000, X1500 and X1830.

 - A slew of janitorial like of_node_put() calls.
