e11bfb99d6 drm/ttm: cleanup BO size handling v3
Based on an idea from Dave, but cleaned up a bit.

We had multiple fields for essentially the same thing.

Now bo->base.size is the original size of the BO in
arbitrary units, usually bytes.

bo->mem.num_pages is the size in number of pages in the
resource domain of bo->mem.mem_type.

v2: use the GEM object size instead of the BO size
v3: fix printks in some places

ebdf565169 drm/ttm: add multihop infrastrucutre (v3)
Currently drivers get called to move a buffer, but if they have to
move it temporarily through another space (SYSTEM->VRAM via TT)
then they can end up with a lot of ttm->driver->ttm call stacks,
if the temprorary space moves requires eviction.

Instead of letting the driver do all the placement/space for the
temporary, allow it to report back (-EMULTIHOP) and a placement (hop)
to the move code, which will then do the temporary move, and the
correct placement move afterwards.

This removes a lot of code from drivers, at the expense of
adding some midlayering. I've some further ideas on how to turn
it inside out, but I think this is a good solution to the call
stack problems.

v2: separate out the driver patches, add WARN for getting
MULTHOP in paths we shouldn't (Daniel)
v3: use memset (Christian)

df9c8d1aa2 drm/amdgpu: fix system hang issue during GPU reset
when GPU hang, driver has multi-paths to enter amdgpu_device_gpu_recover,
the atomic adev->in_gpu_reset and hive->in_reset are used to avoid
re-entering GPU recovery.

During GPU reset and resume, it is unsafe that other threads access GPU,
which maybe cause GPU reset failed. Therefore the new rw_semaphore
adev->reset_sem is introduced, which protect GPU from being accessed by
external threads during recovery.

v2:
1. add rwlock for some ioctls, debugfs and file-close function.
2. change to use dqm->is_resetting and dqm_lock for protection in kfd
driver.
3. remove try_lock and change adev->in_gpu_reset as atomic, to avoid
re-enter GPU recovery for the same GPU hang.

v3:
1. change back to use adev->reset_sem to protect kfd callback
functions, because dqm_lock couldn't protect all codes, for example:
free_mqd must be called outside of dqm_lock;

39913934e6 drm: amdgpu: fix common struct sg_table related issues
The Documentation/DMA-API-HOWTO.txt states that the dma_map_sg() function
returns the number of the created entries in the DMA address space.
However the subsequent calls to the dma_sync_sg_for_{device,cpu}() and
dma_unmap_sg must be called with the original number of the entries
passed to the dma_map_sg().

struct sg_table is a common structure used for describing a non-contiguous
memory buffer, used commonly in the DRM and graphics subsystems. It
consists of a scatterlist with memory pages and DMA addresses (sgl entry),
as well as the number of scatterlist entries: CPU pages (orig_nents entry)
and DMA mapped pages (nents entry).

It turned out that it was a common mistake to misuse nents and orig_nents
entries, calling DMA-mapping functions with a wrong number of entries or
ignoring the number of mapped entries returned by the dma_map_sg()
function.

To avoid such issues, lets use a common dma-mapping wrappers operating
directly on the struct sg_table objects and use scatterlist page
iterators where possible. This, almost always, hides references to the
nents and orig_nents entries, making the code robust, easier to follow
and copy/paste safe.

2733ea144d mm/hmm: remove the customizable pfn format from hmm_range_fault
Presumably the intent here was that hmm_range_fault() could put the data
into some HW specific format and thus avoid some work. However, nothing
actually does that, and it isn't clear how anything actually could do that
as hmm_range_fault() provides CPU addresses which must be DMA mapped.

Perhaps there is some special HW that does not need DMA mapping, but we
don't have any examples of this, and the theoretical performance win of
avoiding an extra scan over the pfns array doesn't seem worth the
complexity. Plus pfns needs to be scanned anyhow to sort out any
DEVICE_PRIVATE pages.

This version replaces the uint64_t with an usigned long containing a pfn
and fixed flags. On input flags is filled with the HMM_PFN_REQ_* values,
on successful output it is filled with HMM_PFN_* values, describing the
state of the pages.

amdgpu is simple to convert, it doesn't use snapshot and doesn't use
per-page flags.

nouveau uses only 16 hmm_pte entries at most (ie fits in a few cache
lines), and it sweeps over its pfns array a couple of times anyhow. It
also has a nasty call chain before it reaches the dma map and hardware
suggesting performance isn't important:

   nouveau_svm_fault():
     args.i.m.method = NVIF_VMM_V0_PFNMAP
     nouveau_range_fault()

be957c886d mm/hmm: make hmm_range_fault return 0 or -1
hmm_vma_walk->last is supposed to be updated after every write to the
pfns, so that it can be returned by hmm_range_fault(). However, this is
not done consistently. Fortunately nothing checks the return code of
hmm_range_fault() for anything other than error.

More importantly last must be set before returning -EBUSY as it is used to
prevent reading an output pfn as an input flags when the loop restarts.

For clarity and simplicity make hmm_range_fault() return 0 or -ERRNO. Only
set last when returning -EBUSY.

Pull hmm updates from Jason Gunthorpe:
"This series focuses on corner case bug fixes and general clarity
improvements to hmm_range_fault(). It arose from a review of
hmm_range_fault() by Christoph, Ralph and myself.

hmm_range_fault() is being used by these 'SVM' style drivers to
non-destructively read the page tables. It is very similar to
get_user_pages() except that the output is an array of PFNs and
per-pfn flags, and it has various modes of reading.

This is necessary before RDMA ODP can be converted, as we don't want
to have weird corner case regressions, which is still a looking
forward item. Ralph has a nice tester for this routine, but it is
waiting for feedback from the selftests maintainers.

  Summary:

6bfef2f919 mm/hmm: remove HMM_FAULT_SNAPSHOT
Now that flags are handled on a fine-grained per-page basis this global
flag is redundant and has a confusing overlap with the pfn_flags_mask and
default_flags.

Normalize the HMM_FAULT_SNAPSHOT behavior into one place. Callers needing
the SNAPSHOT behavior should set a pfn_flags_mask and default_flags that
always results in a cleared HMM_PFN_VALID. Then no pages will be faulted,
and HMM_FAULT_SNAPSHOT is not a special flow that overrides the masking
mechanism.

As this is the last flag, also remove the flags argument. If future flags
are needed they can be part of the struct hmm_range function arguments.

17ffdc4829 mm: simplify device private page handling in hmm_range_fault
Remove the HMM_PFN_DEVICE_PRIVATE flag, no driver has ever set this flag

changed to use is_device_private_page().

This removes the ability to request that device_private pages are faulted

aa32f11691 hmm related patches for 5.5
This is another round of bug fixing and cleanup. This time the focus is on
the driver pattern to use mmu notifiers to monitor a VA range. This code
is lifted out of many drivers and hmm_mirror directly into the
mmu_notifier core and written using the best ideas from all the driver
 implementations.

This removes many bugs from the drivers and has a very pleasing
diffstat. More drivers can still be converted, but that is for another
 cycle.

 - A shared branch with RDMA reworking the RDMA ODP implementation

 - New mmu_interval_notifier API. This is focused on the use case of
monitoring a VA and simplifies the process for drivers

 - A common seq-count locking scheme built into the mmu_interval_notifier
API usable by drivers that call get_user_pages() or hmm_range_fault()
   with the VA range

 - Conversion of mlx5 ODP, hfi1, radeon, nouveau, AMD GPU, and Xen GntDev
drivers to the new API. This deletes a lot of wonky driver code.

 - Two improvements for hmm_range_fault(), from testing done by Ralph

81fa1af31b drm/amdgpu: Use mmu_interval_notifier instead of hmm_mirror
Convert the collision-retry lock around hmm_range_fault to use the one now
provided by the mmu_interval notifier.

Although this driver does not seem to use the collision retry lock that
hmm provides correctly, it can still be converted over to use the
mmu_interval_notifier api instead of hmm_mirror without too much trouble.

This also deletes another place where a driver is associating additional
data (struct amdgpu_mn) with a mmu_struct.

This is more cleanup and consolidation of the hmm APIs and the very

to the page walker API and a few memremap related changes round out the
 series:

 - General improvement of hmm_range_fault() and related APIs, more
documentation, bug fixes from testing, API simplification &
   consolidation, and unused API removal

 - Simplify the hmm related kconfigs to HMM_MIRROR and DEVICE_PRIVATE, and
   make them internal kconfig selects

 - Hoist a lot of code related to mmu notifier attachment out of drivers by
using a refcount get/put attachment idiom and remove the convoluted

 - General API improvement for the migrate_vma API and revision of its only

 - Annotate mmu_notifiers with lockdep and sleeping region debugging

Two series unrelated to HMM or mmu_notifiers came along due to

The ttm_bo_device_init() function gets an additional vma_manager

When passing NULL the embedded _vma_manager is used.
