33aaf2e4d3 thermal/drivers/qoriq: Power down TMU on system suspend

Enable power-down of TMU (Thermal Management Unit) for TMU version 2 during
system suspend to save power. Save approximately 4.3mW on VDD_ANA_1P8 on
i.MX93 platforms.

ad756ecd45 thermal/drivers/rockchip: Add missing rk3328 mapping entry
commit ee022e5cae upstream.

The mapping table for the rk3328 is missing the entry for -25C which is
found in the TRM section 9.5.2 "Temperature-to-code mapping".

NOTE: the kernel uses the tsadc_q_sel=1'b1 mode which is defined as:
      4096-<code in table>. Whereas the table in the TRM gives the code
      "3774" for -25C, the kernel uses 4096-3774=322.

[Dragan Simic] : "After going through the RK3308 and RK3328 TRMs, as
  well as through the downstream kernel code, it seems we may have
  some troubles at our hands.  Let me explain, please.

  To sum it up, part 1 of the RK3308 TRM v1.1 says on page 538 that
  the equation for the output when tsadc_q_sel equals 1 is (4096 -
  tsadc_q), while part 1 of the RK3328 TRM v1.2 says that the output
  equation is (1024 - tsadc_q) in that case.

  The downstream kernel code, however, treats the RK3308 and RK3328
  tables and their values as being the same.  It even mentions 1024 as
  the "offset" value in a comment block for the rk_tsadcv3_control()
  function, just like the upstream code does, which is obviously wrong
  "offset" value when correlated with the table on page 544 of part 1
  of the RK3308 TRM v1.1.

  With all this in mind, it's obvious that more work is needed to make
  it clear where's the actual mistake (it could be that the TRM is
  wrong), which I'll volunteer for as part of the SoC binning project.
  In the meantime, this patch looks fine as-is to me, by offering
  what's a clear improvement to the current state of the upstream
  code"

6a810c462f thermal: int340x: Add NULL check for adev

Not all devices have an ACPI companion fwnode, so adev might be NULL.
This is similar to the commit cd2fd6eab4
("platform/x86: int3472: Check for adev == NULL").

Add a check for adev not being set and return -ENODEV in that case to
avoid a possible NULL pointer deref in int3402_thermal_probe().

Note, under the same directory, int3400_thermal_probe() has such a
check.

748d495e87 thermal: int3400: Fix reading of current_uuid for active policy
commit 7082503622 upstream.

When the current_uuid attribute is set to the active policy UUID,
reading back the same attribute is returning "INVALID" instead of
the active policy UUID on some platforms before Ice Lake.

In platforms before Ice Lake, firmware provides a list of supported
thermal policies. In this case, user space can select any of the
supported thermal policies via a write to attribute "current_uuid".

In commit c7ff297639 ("thermal: int340x: Update OS policy capability
handshake")', the OS policy handshake was updated to support Ice Lake
and later platforms and it treated priv->current_uuid_index=0 as
invalid. However, priv->current_uuid_index=0 is for the active policy,
only priv->current_uuid_index=-1 is invalid.

Fix this issue by updating the priv->current_uuid_index check.

2e9a53eef2 thermal/of: support thermal zones w/o trips subnode

Although the current device tree binding of thermal zones require the
trips subnode, the binding in kernel v5.15 does not require it, and many
device trees shipped with the kernel, for example,
allwinner/sun50i-a64.dtsi and mediatek/mt8183-kukui.dtsi in ARM64, still
comply to the old binding and contain no trips subnode.

Allow the code to successfully register thermal zones w/o trips subnode
for DT binding compatibility now.

Furtherly, the inconsistency between DTs and bindings should be resolved
by either adding empty trips subnode or dropping the trips subnode
requirement.

The processor_thermal driver uses pcim_device_enable() to enable a PCI
device, which means the device will be automatically disabled on driver
detach.  Thus there is no need to call pci_disable_device() again on it.

With recent PCI device resource management improvements, e.g. commit

exposed and triggers the warining below.

49c0fbd5e7 thermal: int340x: processor_thermal: Set feature mask before proc_thermal_add

The function proc_thermal_add() adds sysfs entries for power limits.

The feature mask of available features is not present at that time, so
it cannot be used by proc_thermal_add() to selectively create sysfs
attributes.

The feature mask is set by proc_thermal_mmio_add(), so modify the code
to call it before proc_thermal_add() so as to allow the latter to use
the feature mask.

There is no functional impact with this change.

11c731386e thermal/drivers/tsens: Fix null pointer dereference

compute_intercept_slope() is called from calibrate_8960() (in tsens-8960.c)
as compute_intercept_slope(priv, p1, NULL, ONE_PT_CALIB) which lead to null
pointer dereference (if DEBUG or DYNAMIC_DEBUG set).
Fix this bug by adding null pointer check.

Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with SVACE.

103c0f946f thermal/of: Assume polling-delay(-passive) 0 when absent

Currently, thermal zones associated with providers that have interrupts
for signaling hot/critical trips are required to set a polling-delay
of 0 to indicate no polling. This feels a bit backwards.

Change the code such that "no polling delay" also means "no polling".

6fc218ccd5 thermal: devfreq_cooling: Fix perf state when calculate dfc res_util

The issue occurs when the devfreq cooling device uses the EM power model
and the get_real_power() callback is provided by the driver.

The EM power table is sorted ascending,can't index the table by cooling
device state,so convert cooling state to performance state by
dfc->max_state - dfc->capped_state.

28f010dc50 thermal: intel: hfi: Add syscore callbacks for system-wide PM

The kernel allocates a memory buffer and provides its location to the
hardware, which uses it to update the HFI table. This allocation occurs
during boot and remains constant throughout runtime.

When resuming from hibernation, the restore kernel allocates a second
memory buffer and reprograms the HFI hardware with the new location as
part of a normal boot. The location of the second memory buffer may
differ from the one allocated by the image kernel.

When the restore kernel transfers control to the image kernel, its HFI
buffer becomes invalid, potentially leading to memory corruption if the
hardware writes to it (the hardware continues to use the buffer from the
restore kernel).

It is also possible that the hardware "forgets" the address of the memory
buffer when resuming from "deep" suspend. Memory corruption may also occur
in such a scenario.

To prevent the described memory corruption, disable HFI when preparing to
suspend or hibernate. Enable it when resuming.

Add syscore callbacks to handle the package of the boot CPU (packages of
non-boot CPUs are handled via CPU offline). Syscore ops always run on the
boot CPU. Additionally, HFI only needs to be disabled during "deep" suspend
and hibernation. Syscore ops only run in these cases.

b2517d1412 thermal: intel: hfi: Disable an HFI instance when all its CPUs go offline

In preparation to support hibernation, add functionality to disable an HFI
instance during CPU offline. The last CPU of an instance that goes offline
will disable such instance.

The Intel Software Development Manual states that the operating system must
wait for the hardware to set MSR_IA32_PACKAGE_THERM_STATUS[26] after
disabling an HFI instance to ensure that it will no longer write on the HFI
memory. Some processors, however, do not ever set such bit. Wait a minimum
of 2ms to give time hardware to complete any pending memory writes.

a8056e821c thermal: intel: hfi: Refactor enabling code into helper functions

In preparation for the addition of a suspend notifier, wrap the logic to
enable HFI and program its memory buffer into helper functions. Both the
CPU hotplug callback and the suspend notifier will use them.

This refactoring does not introduce functional changes.

5d56a8d670 thermal/drivers/sun8i: Fix some error handling paths in sun8i_ths_probe()

Should an error occur after calling sun8i_ths_resource_init() in the probe
function, some resources need to be released, as already done in the
.remove() function.

Switch to the devm_clk_get_enabled() helper and add a new devm_action to
turn sun8i_ths_resource_init() into a fully managed function.

Move the place where reset_control_deassert() is called so that the
recommended order of reset release/clock enable steps is kept.
A64 manual states that:

	3.3.6.4. Gating and reset

	Make sure that the reset signal has been released before the release of
	module clock gating;

This fixes the issue and removes some LoC at the same time.

This reverts commit f05c7b7d9e.

That change was causing a regression in the generic-adc-thermal-probed
bootrr test as reported in the kernelci-results list [1].
A proper rework will take longer, so revert it for now.

REGMAP is a hidden (not user visible) symbol. Users cannot set it
directly thru "make *config", so drivers should select it instead of
depending on it if they need it.

Consistently using "select" or "depends on" can also help reduce
Kconfig circular dependency issues.

Therefore, change the use of "depends on REGMAP" to "select REGMAP".

b57ba4e952 thermal: intel: powerclamp: Fix cur_state for multi package system
commit 8e47363588 upstream.

The powerclamp cooling device cur_state shows actual idle observed by
package C-state idle counters. But the implementation is not sufficient
for multi package or multi die system. The cur_state value is incorrect.
On these systems, these counters must be read from each package/die and
somehow aggregate them. But there is no good method for aggregation.

It was not a problem when explicit CPU model addition was required to
enable intel powerclamp. In this way certain CPU models could have
been avoided. But with the removal of CPU model check with the
availability of Package C-state counters, the driver is loaded on most
of the recent systems.

For multi package/die systems, just show the actual target idle state,
the system is trying to achieve. In powerclamp this is the user set
state minus one.

Also there is no use of starting a worker thread for polling package
C-state counters and applying any compensation for multiple package
or multiple die systems.

9f6756cd09 thermal/drivers/hisi: Drop second sensor hi3660

The commit 74c8e6bffb ("driver core: Add __alloc_size hint to devm
allocators") exposes a panic "BRK handler: Fatal exception" on the
hi3660_thermal_probe funciton.
This is because the function allocates memory for only one
sensors array entry, but tries to fill up a second one.

Fix this by removing the unneeded second access.

de92beb63a thermal/drivers/tsens: limit num_sensors to 9 for msm8939

On msm8939 last (hwid=10) sensor was added in the hw revision 3.0.
Calibration data for it was placed outside of the main calibration data
blob, so it is not accessible by the current blob-parsing code.

Moreover data for the sensor's p2 is not contiguous in the fuses. This
makes it hard to use nvmem_cell API to parse calibration data in a
generic way.

Since the sensor doesn't seem to be actually used by the existing
hardware, disable the sensor for now.

Tsens driver mentions that msm8976 data should be used for both msm8976
and msm8956 SoCs. This is not quite correct, as according to the
vendor kernels, msm8976 should use standard slope values (3200), while
msm8956 really uses the slope values found in the driver.

Add separate compatibility string for msm8956, move slope value
overrides to the corresponding init function and use the standard
compute_intercept_slope() function for both platforms.

19df0f77b3 thermal: intel: int340x: Protect trip temperature from concurrent updates
commit 6757a7abe4 upstream.

Trip temperatures are read using ACPI methods and stored in the memory
during zone initializtion and when the firmware sends a notification for
change. This trip temperature is returned when the thermal core calls via
callback get_trip_temp().

But it is possible that while updating the memory copy of the trips when
the firmware sends a notification for change, thermal core is reading the
trip temperature via the callback get_trip_temp(). This may return invalid
trip temperature.

To address this add a mutex to protect the invalid temperature reads in
the callback get_trip_temp() and int340x_thermal_read_trips().

put_device() shouldn't be called before a prior call to
device_register(). __thermal_cooling_device_register() doesn't follow
that properly and needs fixing. Also
thermal_cooling_device_destroy_sysfs() is getting called unnecessarily
on few error paths.

Fix all this by placing the calls at the right place.

80bb3b901a thermal: Validate new state in cur_state_store()

In cur_state_store(), the new state of the cooling device is received
from user-space and is not validated by the thermal core but the same is
left for the individual drivers to take care of. Apart from duplicating
the code it leaves possibility for introducing bugs where a driver may
not do it right.

Lets make the thermal core check the new state itself and store the max
value in the cooling device structure.

if a thermal device is removed while accesses to its device attributes
are ongoing.

The problem is exposed by code in iwl_op_mode_mvm_start(), which registers
a thermal zone device only to unregister it shortly afterwards if an
unrelated failure is encountered while accessing the hardware.

Check if the thermal zone device is registered after acquiring the
thermal zone device mutex to ensure this does not happen.

The code was tested by triggering the failure in iwl_op_mode_mvm_start()
on purpose. Without this patch, the kernel crashes reliably. The crash
is no longer observed after applying this and the preceding patches.

On gen2 chips the stage2 threshold is not 140 degC but 125 degC.

Make the warning message clearer by using this variable and also by
including the temperature that was checked for.
