Some qcom platforms make some GPIOs or pins unavailable for use by non-secure operating systems, and thus reading or writing the registers for those pins will cause access control issues. Add support for a DT property to describe the set of GPIOs that are available for use so that higher level OSes are able to know what pins to avoid reading/writing. Non-DT platforms can add support by directly updating the chip->valid_mask. Please notice that there are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF.
In order to build the documentation, use make htmldocs or
make pdfdocs.
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
