Updating the kernel templates (those use by the yocto-bsp script) is a mechanical
process (and prone to errors) which consists of copying latest kernel template then
applying string replacements from old to new kernel version. This script collects
these commands allowing quick updates in the future.

A potential flaw was introduced by commit a8dc4bc0:
[ python: fix python-tests rdepends ]
It made python-tests RDEPENDS on python-modules which is correct, but
this should be done in generate-manifest-2.7.py, and re-generate the
manifest.
Fixed by adding this dependency in generate-manifest-2.7.py as well.

python3-native supposes to RPROVIDE all native packages as added in
generate-manifest-3.5.py, but it does not so far, this leads a problem
that sometimes bitbake cant find a runtime provider for a python3-*-native
when a new runtime dependency on it being required, this usualy happens
after a new native python3-* recipe is created or the old native python3-*
recipes are upgraded.
To avoid manually extending RPROVIDE every time when a new runtime
dependency is introduced, an argument '-n/--native' is added to the
manifest generator, allowing it create a native python3 manifest, with a
RPROVIDE line only, the RPROVIDE should contain all the sub-packages.
The generated python-native-3.5-manifest.inc is also added which is
included by python3-native recipe.

After systemd-boot was introduced, its been tested for a while with no major
issues being found until now, this patch completely replaces all gummiboot
instances with systemd-boot ones, taking the next step into cleaning
up systemd-boot/gummiboot.

Scripts that produces script data to be consumed by gnuplot.
There are two possible plots depending if either the
-S parameter is present or not:
* without -S: Produces a histogram listing top N recipes/tasks versus
stats. The first stat defined in the -s parameter is the one taken
into account for ranking
* -S: Produces a histogram listing tasks versus stats. In this case,
the value of each stat is the sum for that particular stat in all recipes found.
Stats values are in descending order defined by the first stat defined on -s
EXAMPLES
1. Top recipes' tasks taking into account utime
$ buildstats-plot.sh -s utime | gnuplot -p
2. Tasks versus utime:stime
$ buildstats-plot.sh -s utime:stime -S | gnuplot -p
3. Tasks versus IO write_bytes:IO read_bytes
$ buildstats-plot.sh -s 'IO write_bytes:IO read_bytes' -S | gnuplot -p

Remove the patch that was applied in the python3 and python3-native
recipes to skip compilation of python modules.
Modify generate-manifest-3.5.py to match '__pycache__' directories in
FILES_*.
This is necessary because Python3 puts .pyc files in '__pycache__'
subdirectories one level below the corresponding .py files, whereas in
Python2 they used to be right next to the sources.
This change significantly reduces the startup overhead of Python3
scripts. For example, on a Cortex-A9, "python3 -c pass" took 0.40s
before, and 0.19s after.

There are many more stats on buildstats that 'Elapsed time', so make the script
more flexible to support all stats. Some cmd line examples:
$ buildstats.sh -s 'utime'
Buildstats' data covers proc's stats in different areas, including CPU times,
IO, program system resources and child program system resources. In order
to print values on each of these sets from command line, one can use the
following:
$ buildstats.sh -H -s 'TIME' | less
$ buildstats.sh -H -s 'IO' | less
and 'RUSAGE' and 'CHILD_RUSAGE' for program and program's child system
resources.

Utilize the new return value (2) from oe-build-perf-test. Do not exit
with an error in case some individual tests fail. Even if some tests
fail we still want to complete successfully, that is, display and
archive the results and do cleanup. The individual tests do not depend
on each other anymore so test failures shouldn't affect the results of
successful tests.

This bash script prints list of modules uncovered by oe-selftest
or any other test that produces coverage report.
It expects coverage report on its stdin and a directory to look
for python modules as a command line parameter, e.g.
coverage report --rcfile=build/.coveragerc | ./scripts/contrib/uncovered bitbake/
should print list of uncovered python modules from bitbake/
directory tree to stdout.

If devtool returns exit code 4 then record the recipes as "skipped"

A shell script wrapper around oe-build-perf-test script. The purpose of
this wrapper is to act as a executor script, making it possible to run
the tests with a single command. The wrapper script initializes the
build environment, runs oe-build-perf-test and archives the results.

With Python 2, argparse subparsers behaviour in Python 2 was to print
the usage information if the subparsers argument wasn't specified.
However, with Python 3.2.3 and later a subparsers argument is not
required by default, leading to errors when no arguments are specified:
AttributeError: 'Namespace' object has no attribute 'func'
Restore the previous desired behaviour of showing the help text for
devtool, recipetool and the devtool-stress script by setting
subparsers.required to True.

file() API doesn't exist in python 3, convert to open(). Also handle
some cases where files aren't closed. Compatible with python 2.7.

Mount the hddimg and rootfs.img as read-only when creating the bootable
image on the medium. Otherwise, the md5 checksum values of the hddimg will
be altered. As this changed checksum value might cause issue for users
whom would reuse the hddimg.

python-xml depends on python-elementtree as the latter just contains a C library
used by the former. However there's no point to this split apart from
increasing the number of packages, so merge -elementtree into python-xml.

Add simple initial eSDK test. Currently, only download size and
installation time of eSDK is measured. The eSDK to be tested is
generated from the same image that the other tests are run for. This
patch will add two new fields to the global results log and that needs
to be taken into account when examining the results.

Hooking up a serial console is a "developer mode", the chances are pretty good
developers are interested in watching the kernel boot log on the console so
they can spot any problems or diagnose any failed boots (e.g. can't find root
fs).

Regardless of which image is built using which layers, try to ensure the image
on the SD device being prepared is the one that is booted automatically when
the board is powered.

For scripts that use Python's standard argparse module to parse
command-line arguments, create a subclass which will show the usage
the usage information when a command-line parsing error occurs. The most
common case would be when the script is run with no arguments; at least
then the user immediately gets to see what arguments they might need to
pass instead of just an error message.

Add a script to run "devtool modify" followed by a build on every target
recipe in the environment (with the option to skip/resume from/only
include specific recipes). This takes far too long to run as an
oe-selftest test but is still something that is useful to be able to
run. There's also a slightly quicker mode that just runs "devtool
extract" on each recipe.

python3-debugger (pdb) needs importlib as a dependency, if not included
it produces an error when importing pdb, making pdb unusable, this patch
adds importlib dependency fixing the issue.

If it is passed only the image parameter, it will show some interactive
options to help to conclude the script.
With this patch it will detect devices available in the machine, asking
to choose what it is wanted to be flashed.
it will suggest the target device. If it is a SD card the suggestion
is /dev/mmcblk0. If it is a pendrive it will suggest to use /dev/sda.

robotparser has been moved to urllib.robotparser in Python 3, and gets
packaged as part of python3-netclient alongside the rest of urllib.
This causes python3-modules to depend on an empty/missing
python3-robotparser package.
robotparser.py is relatively small and has no dependencies outside
urllib, so it makes more sense to eliminate the python3-robotparser
package than to alter the manifest for python3-netclient.
Part of the fix for [YOCTO #8048].

The file pyconfig.h wasnt being deployed on target, causing an error
when importing some libraries that required it, this patch fixes

If cleanup() is called early on, as happens when the device isn't
writeable, then none of the mount point variables are set; thus the
script was calling grep with only one argument and appeared to hang
since it was waiting for input on stdin.

Added additional runtime dependencies for python3-core needed
to run the interpreter with a minimal install (codecs,io,math,reprlib).
Created python3-reprlib package to avoid getting python3-misc bringing
lots of unneeded libraries.
Fixed FILES-python3-core, missing _sysconfigdata, renamed copyreg
undetected before due to previously needed installation of python3-misc.

My previous patch adding gummiboot support was missing the line to
remove the initrd line from the boot config. This was an oversight in
copying over the grub setup to gummiboot. Add the necessary logic to
remove it.

Currently the script will attempt to continue even after a fatal error.
Add a die() routine which will abort in the case of a fatal error and
call a cleanup() routine to unmount any images or devices and remove the
TMPDIR.
Move the variable assignment and directory creation earlier in the
script, making it more obvious what we need to clean up.

Add logging functions: error, warn, info, and success, using tput to add
color highlighting.
Use these routines throughout the script, replacing echo statements and
adding "|| error" in several places to eliminate silent failures. Add a
simple exit block which checks for issues encountered while running.

Rather than only copying the EFI/BOOT dir, copy the entire EFI dir

Several of these scripts were using duplicated code (and slightly
different methods) to find the path to bitbake and add its lib
subdirectory to the Python import path. Add some common code to do this
and change the scripts to use it.

Allow the user to specify a symlink as the host device. If a link is
used, mkefidisk will now dereference it and use the link target when
looking for sysfs information.

Update the ddimage script to allow it to work on Mac OS too. The biggest
difference is sysfs vs diskutil and in the syntax of the stat command
between Mac OS and Linux, unfortunately. Workarounds using ls, cut, and
columns got really fragile really quickly. Relying on stat and switching
on uname seemed the more robust solution.

When running automated tests (or just generally interacting with)
boards whose serial console devices are on the board itself and thus
disappear when powered down or practically disconnected, such as the
BeagleBone white, some terminal programs (e.g. picocom) will exit when
the device disappears and need to be restarted after the serial device
returns. This script handles this automatically for such terminal
programs.

The multiprocessing module needs the mmap module. We got away with not
having this for the build appliance because python-mmap was added to
packagegroup-self-hosted, but this is the proper place to have it.

A simple script I put together for getting the paths from one node to
another in a dot graph. This is useful for example in working out why
a particular recipe is getting built in conjunction with dot graph files
produced by bitbake -g.
For example:
$ bitbake -g core-image-minimal
...
$ graph-tool find-paths pn-depends.dot core-image-minimal util-linux
core-image-minimal -> packagegroup-core-boot -> udev -> glib-2.0 -> python-dbus -> dbus-glib -> dbus -> libsm -> e2fsprogs -> util-linux

After installing python-unittest, the following errors occur when executing
"import unittest" from a python commandline:
ImportError: No module named StringIO
ImportError: No module named pprint
ImportError: No module named difflib
ImportError: No module named pprint
ImportError: No module named fnmatch
Fix this by adding the missing dependencies to the generator script and run
the generator.

It should be possible to generate a disk to a file using a loopback
device with mkefidisk.sh, which is useful for booting simulators. To
make this possible the partitions for the loop back need to work
similarly to the mmc devices. The mkfs.vfat also requires and
additional argument to force it to write to something other then a
real disk.
Example:
qemu-img create -f raw bigdisk 4G
dev=`sudo losetup -f`
sudo losetup $dev bigdisk
mkefidisk.sh $dev tmp-eglibc/deploy/images/qemux86/core-image-minimal-qemux86.hddimg /dev/sda
sudo losetup -d $dev
Note:
Also a bug was fixed in the mkefidisk.sh where if the disk you are
writing to initially has an invalid label the size of the first
partition will be computed incorrectly. For the simulator disk
creation this is generally always the case, but this can happen with
real hardware as well.

If not every combination of BB_NUMBER_THREADS and PARALLEL_MAKE have
been tested by bb-matrix.sh, e.g., by using BB_RANGE="04 08 10 12 16"
and PM_RANGE="04 08 10 12 16", then the graph that gnuplot generates by
default looks very jagged due to the missing data points. By using
splines to interpolate the missing data the graph looks a lot better.
This should not change graphs where all data points are available in any
way, only improve sparse graphs.

This makes sure the the first build starts from a clean state. Otherwise
one could have the first build affected by any leftover state from
a previous build.
This also leaves a working state behind after the final build.

As python-multiprocessing requires python-threading and
python-pickle, this commit adds them as runtime dependency.
The observed behavior was:
When typing 'import multiprocessing' in the python shell on a
minimal image with only the python-multiprocessing recipe installed,

Be more descriptive about the revision we are running on
in the global results file: add branch:commit and git describe fields.
Also add the sizes for tmp dir not only times. (previously these were

Some automounters are rather overzealous and like to mount things
immediately after partitioning. This can happen if the disk is being
reused and the partitions align exactly with the existing partitions
which have already been formatted. Move the unmount code into a function
and call it before and after partitioning.

When all builds have finished write the hostname, commit and times
on a single line in the global results file (useful for merging later
on files from multiple systems).
Also the final cleaning should be last after writing the results.

When your proxy/network connection is unstable the network sanity test
which runs before every build (because we wipe all the files in the build dir)
can influence build time. Appending CONNECTIVITY_CHECK_URIS = ""
in local.conf will disable the check.

When trying to import python-pprint on a minimal image, it reports that
the cStringIO python module is missing.
This is provided with python-io, so we add python-io as runtime
dependency.

This script runs a series of builds (core-image-sato by default) with
and without sstate cache and collects some metrics (time and size currently).
It takes a commit as argument (-c <rev>) and measures wall clock for
bitbake core-image-sato and virtual/kernel.

While GPT works fine when writing to actual media, it cannot be reliably
used for distributing disk images as it requires the backup table to be
on the last block on the device, which of course varies from device to
device. Use MSDOS tables instead.
Use mkfs to label the filesystems as msdos tables do not support
partition labeling.
