8784e75a71 Add core-image-weston to reproducible build tests
This change adds core-image-weston to the reproducible build test.
For this we also need to update the static-group and static-passwd.

Besides the world package build which includes the wayland package,
this adds a wayland/weston-based image to the reproducible build test.

With the separate of the "-only" and "-or-later" licenses, we need to

f50b230c27 bitbake.conf: Prevent pyc file generation in pseudo context
This also effectively reverts commit b6d30c21b0:
    bitbake.conf: Extend PSEUDO_IGNORE_PATHS to ${COREBASE}/meta

The contents of ${COREBASE}/meta were ignored as pyc files could be
generated for the contents of the lib subdirectory if python modules
were imported within a pseudo context. However this doesn't protect us
from pyc files being generated in the lib directories for other layers.
It's far better to tell python not to produce pyc files when running
under pseudo (by setting the PYTHONDONTWRITEBYTECODE variable) as this
will cover any location where pyc files could possibly be created. This
variable is set in FAKEROOTBASEENV so that it applies to the
bitbake-worker instance for fakeroot tasks, preventing pyc files from
being generated for imports in python tasks themselves.

Also add a test case to ensure that pyc files are not created in tasks
which are executed under pseudo.

75b74f6b8d wic: Introduce empty plugin to create unformatted empty partitions
The empty wic plugin is used to create unformatted empty partitions for wic
images.

To use it you must pass "empty" as argument for the "--source" parameter in

Also adds a selftest for this plugin where the 'Fstype' column from 'wic

f135cb3659 oeqa/selftest: Add test for conflicting sysroot provider
sysroot-test depends on virtual/sysroot-test which we build for one machine,
switch machine, switch provider of virtual/sysroot-test and check that the

so can cause errors if the sysroot code doesn't function correctly.

Yes, sysroot-test should be machine specific really to avoid this, however
the sysroot cleanup should also work.

ffae400179 meta/lib+scripts: Convert to SPDX license headers
This adds SPDX license headers in place of the wide assortment of things
currently in our script headers. We default to GPL-2.0-only except for the
oeqa code where it was clearly submitted and marked as MIT on the most part
or some scripts which had the "or later" GPL versioning.

The patch also drops other obsolete bits of file headers where they were
encoountered such as editor modelines, obsolete maintainer information or
the phrase "All rights reserved" which is now obsolete and not required in
copyright headers (in this case its actually confusing for licensing as all
rights were not reserved).

6ca669105f package.bbclass: add support for pkg_postinst_ontarget()
This function is a convenient and more readable shortcut for situations
when the postinst code always needs to run on target. All commands that
cannot be executed during cross-install and can only be run on target
should go into this function. They will only be executed on first boot
(if package was cross-installed) or immediately during package installation
on target.

Plain pkg_postinst() works as before: it is run during cross-install time,
it can contain a request to defer to first boot, and it is also run
during package installation on target.

Also fix the oeqa test for this functionality to use the new function
where appropriate.

There were two completely different tests inside selftest.py,
and the only reason for them to be together was that both needed

This fixes the design issue and error-prone situation by separating

extra time added to running the tests, but it is minimal since
the builds reuse data from previuous build.

2b77735c72 rpm: add support for remote package feeds via PACKAGE_FEED_URIS variable
I've used a previous patch (which was never merged) by
Humberto Ibarra <humberto.ibarra.lopez@intel.com> as a model
for how to do runtime testing of this feature (e.g. we need to boot
an image, run dnf on it, and check that it is indeed able to
access the remote repo over http). Here's his original commit message:

=====
Testing that feeds specified with PACKAGE_FEED_URIS var are set
correctly has two parts. First a build with this var set is required,
and then smart update needs to be issued in the running taget.

The previous is not a common selftest practice because this is a
simple test, but requires building and running a specific image,
which takes a lot of time. testimage is not a good fit either,
since the images tested there do not have the PACKAGE_FEED_URIS
var set.

For this test, the runtime-test module is being used, which is a
selftest module but runs a testimage command. The var and test
environment were set in runtime-perf.py and the actual test is
done in a new testcase added to meta-selftest layer.

52c10b6e58 meta-selftest: add selftest-ed recipes
The oe-selftest oescripts.TestScripts.test_cleanup_workdir was using
gzip and the GPLv2 variant to test cleanup of the workdir. This broke
with the removal of GPLv2 recipes from OE-Core.

Instead of relying on recipes in OE-Core remaining static we should
ensure that meta-selftest provides recipes required for the tests to pass.
To that end we take a copy of the current GPLv2 and GPLv3 variants of ed
and include them in meta-selftest as new recipes.
We chose ed over gzip as gzip has dependencies which would require
additional GPLv2 recipes to be included in meta-selftest.

39fba4d70f oe-selftest: devtool: test that updating a file with subdir= works
If you have a file:// entry in SRC_URI with a subdir= parameter that
makes it extract into the source tree, then when you update that file in

oe-selftest test to verify it.

Note that in order to succeed this test also requires the fix
"lib/oe/recipeutils: ignore archives by default in

8be95c5fbe devtool: add upgrade feature
Upgrades a recipe to a particular version and downloads the source code
into a folder. User can avoid patching the source code.

These are the general steps of the upgrade function:

   - Extract current recipe source code into srctree and create a branch
   - Extract upgrade recipe source code into srctree and rebase with
previous branch. In case the rebase is not correctly applied, source
code will not be deleted, so user correct the patches
   - Creates the new recipe under the workspace

7c0940196c wic-image-minimal: add wic image recipe and .wks
Added example of recipe and .wks file to create partitioned image.

This image is using quite complex partitioning scheme.

It also uses core-image-minimal rootfs to populate another partition.

This is how wic reports about artifacts used to create this image:
  ROOTFS_DIR: tmp/work/qemux86_64-poky-linux/wic-image-minimal/1.0-r0/rootfs
  ROOTFS_DIR["/core"]: tmp/work/qemux86_64-poky-linux/core-image-minimal/1.0-r0/rootfs

fbfc06a969 recipetool: add appendfile subcommand
Locating which recipe provides a file in an image that you want to
modify and then figuring out how to bbappend the recipe in order to
replace it can be a tedious process. Thus, add a new appendfile
subcommand to recipetool, providing the ability to create a bbappend
file to add/replace any file in the target system. Without the -r
option, it will search for the recipe packaging the specified file
(using pkgdata from previously built recipes). The bbappend will be
created at the appropriate path within the specified layer directory
(which may or may not be in your bblayers.conf) or if one already exists
it will be updated appropriately.

Fairly extensive oe-selftest tests are also provided.

Implements [YOCTO #6447].

a976d63ae5 oe-selftest: add a test for devtool deploy-target
Whilst this test would seemingly be better placed as a runtime test,
unfortunately the runtime tests run under bitbake and you can't run
devtool within bitbake (since devtool needs to run bitbake itself).
Additionally we are testing build-time functionality as well, so
really this has to be done as an oe-selftest test.

This test does have a few perhaps unusual requirements in order to run:
 * pexpect is installed
 * MACHINE is set to one of the qemu machines
 * runqemu tap devices have been set up

cec8b230cf Replace one-line DESCRIPTION with SUMMARY
A lot of our recipes had short one-line DESCRIPTION values and no
SUMMARY value set. In this case it's much better to just set SUMMARY
since DESCRIPTION is defaulted from SUMMARY anyway and then the SUMMARY
is at least useful. I also took the opportunity to fix up a lot of the
new SUMMARY values, making them concisely explain the function of the
