e4df56ad0b mmc: core: Add wp_grp_size sysfs node
The eMMC card can be set into write-protected mode to prevent data from
being accidentally modified or deleted. Wp_grp_size (Write Protect Group
Size) refers to an attribute of the eMMC card, used to manage write
protection and is the CSD register [36:32] of the eMMC device. Wp_grp_size
(Write Protect Group Size) indicates how many eMMC blocks are contained in
each write protection group on the eMMC card.

To allow userspace easy access of the CSD register bits, let's add sysfs
node "wp_grp_size".

b062136d0d mmc: mmc_test: Add re-tuning test
Add a test to repeatedly re-tune in between random reads. The test is
non-destructive of data on the card and runs for 30 seconds. It can be
repeated to test for longer durations.

If re-tuning is not supported, the test is skipped.

When expire_timers() runs later, it warns because the MMC host structure
containing the delayed work was freed, and now contains an invalid work
function pointer.

Fix this by cancelling any pending delayed work before releasing the
MMC host structure.

e7794c14fd mmc: rpmb: fixes pause retune on all RPMB partitions.
When RPMB was converted to a character device, it added support for
multiple RPMB partitions (Commit 97548575be ("mmc: block: Convert RPMB to
a character device").

One of the changes in this commit was transforming the variable target_part
defined in __mmc_blk_ioctl_cmd into a bitmask. This inadvertently regressed
the validation check done in mmc_blk_part_switch_pre() and
mmc_blk_part_switch_post(), so let's fix it.

4d0c8d0aef mmc: core: Use mrq.sbc in close-ended ffu
Field Firmware Update (ffu) may use close-ended or open ended sequence.
Each such sequence is comprised of a write commands enclosed between 2
switch commands - to and from ffu mode. So for the close-ended case, it
will be: cmd6->cmd23-cmd25-cmd6.

Some host controllers however, get confused when multi-block rw is sent
without sbc, and may generate auto-cmd12 which breaks the ffu sequence.
I encountered  this issue while testing fwupd (github.com/fwupd/fwupd)
on HP Chromebook x2, a qualcomm based QC-7c, code name - strongbad.

Instead of a quirk, or hooking the request function of the msm ops,
it would be better to fix the ioctl handling and make it use mrq.sbc
instead of issuing SET_BLOCK_COUNT separately.

174925d340 mmc: block: Do not lose cache flush during CQE error recovery
During CQE error recovery, error-free data commands get requeued if there
is any data left to transfer, but non-data commands are completed even
though they have not been processed.  Requeue them instead.

Note the only non-data command is cache flush, which would have resulted in
a cache flush being lost if it was queued at the time of CQE recovery.

421b605edb Revert "mmc: core: Capture correct oemid-bits for eMMC cards"
This reverts commit 84ee19bffc.

The commit above made quirks with an OEMID fail to be applied, as they
were checking card->cid.oemid for the full 16 bits defined in MMC_FIXUP
macros but the field would only contain the bottom 8 bits.

eMMC v5.1A might have bogus values in OEMID's higher bits so another fix
will be made, but it has been decided to revert this until that is ready.

ff369d7b98 mmc: debugfs: Allow host caps to be modified
During board verification, there is a need to test the various supported
eMMC/SD speed modes.  However, since the framework chooses the best mode
supported by the card and the host controller's caps, this currently
necessitates changing the devicetree for every iteration.

Allow the various speed mode host capabilities to be modified via
debugfs in order to allow easier hardware verification.  The values to
be written are the raw MMC_CAP* values from include/linux/mmc/host.h.
This is rather low-level, and these defines are not guaranteed to be
stable, but it is perhaps good enough for the intended use case.

MMC_CAP_AGGRESSIVE_PM can also be set, in order to be able to
re-initialize the card without having to physically remove and re-insert
it.

84ee19bffc mmc: core: Capture correct oemid-bits for eMMC cards
The OEMID is an 8-bit binary number rather than 16-bit as the current code
parses for. The OEMID occupies bits [111:104] in the CID register, see the
eMMC spec JESD84-B51 paragraph 7.2.3. It seems that the 16-bit comes from
the legacy MMC specs (v3.31 and before).

Let's fix the parsing by simply move to use 8-bit instead of 16-bit. This
means we ignore the impact on some of those old MMC cards that may be out
there, but on the other hand this shouldn't be a problem as the OEMID seems
not be an important feature for these cards.

2e2b547950 mmc: core: Allow dynamical updates of the number of requests for hsq
To allow dynamical updates of the current number of used in-flight
requests, let's move away from using a hard-coded value to a use a
corresponding variable in the struct mmc_host.

This can be valuable when optimizing for certain I/O request sequences, as
shown by subsequent changes.

f19c5a73e6 mmc: core: Fix error propagation for some ioctl commands
Userspace has currently no way of checking the internal R1 response error
bits for some commands. This is a problem for some commands, like RPMB for
example. Typically, we may detect that the busy completion has successfully
ended, while in fact the card did not complete the requested operation.

To fix the problem, let's always poll with CMD13 for these commands and
during the polling, let's also aggregate the R1 response bits. Before
completing the ioctl request, let's propagate the R1 response bits too.

32a9cdb886 mmc: core: sdio: hold retuning if sdio in 1-bit mode
tuning only support in 4-bit mode or 8 bit mode, so in 1-bit mode,
need to hold retuning.

Find this issue when use manual tuning method on imx93. When system
resume back, SDIO WIFI try to switch back to 4 bit mode, first will
trigger retuning, and all tuning command failed.

 All of these have been in linux-next this week with no reported issues.
 The last bit of cleanups from Jiri and the tty structure size reduction
 came in last week, a bit late but as they were just style changes and
 size reductions, I figured they should get into this merge cycle so that

bac806830f mmc: core: Add host specific tuning support for SD HS mode
To support the need for host specific tuning for SD high-speed mode, let's
add two new optional callbacks, ->prepare|execute_sd_hs_tuning() and let's
call them when switching into the SD high-speed mode.

Note that, during the tuning process it's also needed for host drivers to
send commands to the SD card to verify that the tuning process succeeds.
Therefore, let's also share the corresponding functions from the core to
allow this.

Userspace can use this to distinguish hotpluggable mmc devices such as
sdcards from non-hotpluggable ones such as eMMC.
One example is the lsblk tool from util-linux.

Note that dev_set_removable() is not related to GENHD_FL_REMOVABLE which
is not applicable as per the comment in drivers/mmc/core/block.c

For a completed request, after the mmc_blk_mq_complete_rq(mq, req)
function is executed, the bitmap_tags corresponding to the
request will be cleared, that is, the request will be regarded as
idle. If the request is acquired by a different type of process at
this time, the issue_type of the request may change. It further
caused the value of mq->in_flight[issue_type] to be abnormal,
and a large number of requests could not be sent.

c467c8f081 mmc: Add MMC_QUIRK_BROKEN_SD_CACHE for Kingston Canvas Go Plus from 11/2019
This microSD card never clears Flush Cache bit after cache flush has
been started in sd_flush_cache(). This leads e.g. to failure to mount
file system. Add a quirk which disables the SD cache for this specific
card from specific manufacturing date of 11/2019, since on newer dated
cards from 05/2023 the cache flush works correctly.

It seems that Kingston EMMC04G-M627 despite advertising TRIM support does
not work when the core is trying to use REQ_OP_WRITE_ZEROES.

We are seeing I/O errors in OpenWrt under 6.1 on Zyxel NBG7815 that we did
not previously have and tracked it down to REQ_OP_WRITE_ZEROES.

Trying to use fstrim seems to also throw errors like:

Disabling TRIM makes the error go away, so lets add a quirk for this eMMC
to disable TRIM.

2cc83bf7d4 mmc: core: Allow mmc_start_host() synchronously detect a card
When using dm-verity with a data partition on an emmc device, dm-verity
races with the initialization of the (e)MMC/SD cards. This is because the
card detection procedure is being managed from a workqueue, rather than
synchronously from the mmc host's ->probe() routine.

To allow the card detect to be synchronous, let's simply skip using the
workqueue at the first initialization attempt from mmc_start_host().

SPI doesn't have the usual PROG path we can check for error bits
after moving back to TRAN. Instead it holds the line LOW until
completion. We can then check if the card shows any errors or

Chapter "5.3 Power-Up/Down Sequence" of WILC1000 [1] and WILC3000 [2]
states that CHIP_EN must be pulled HIGH first, RESETN second. Fix the
order of these signals in the driver.

Use the mmc_pwrseq_ops as driver data as the delay between signals is
specific to SDIO card type anyway.

003fb0a511 mmc: block: ensure error propagation for non-blk
Requests to the mmc layer usually come through a block device IO.
The exceptions are the ioctl interface, RPMB chardev ioctl
and debugfs, which issue their own blk_mq requests through
blk_execute_rq and do not query the BLK_STS error but the
mmcblk-internal drv_op_result. This patch ensures that drv_op_result
defaults to an error and has to be overwritten by the operation
to be considered successful.

The behavior leads to a bug where the request never propagates
the error, e.g. by directly erroring out at mmc_blk_mq_issue_rq if
mmc_blk_part_switch fails. The ioctl caller of the rpmb chardev then
can never see an error (BLK_STS_IOERR, but drv_op_result is unchanged)
and thus may assume that their call executed successfully when it did not.

While always checking the blk_execute_rq return value would be
advised, let's eliminate the error by always setting
drv_op_result as -EIO to be overwritten on success (or other error)

 There's a lot of changes this development cycle, most of the work falls
 into two different categories:
   - fw_devlink fixes and updates.  This has gone through numerous review
     cycles and lots of review and testing by lots of different devices.
     Hopefully all should be good now, and Saravana will be keeping a
     watch for any potential regression on odd embedded systems.
   - driver core changes to work to make struct bus_type able to be moved
     into read-only memory (i.e. const)  The recent work with Rust has
     pointed out a number of areas in the driver core where we are

     to be dynamic at all, and they should be able to be read-only making

71d04535e8 mmc: core: fix return value check in devm_mmc_alloc_host()
mmc_alloc_host() returns NULL pointer not PTR_ERR(), if it
fails, so replace the IS_ERR() check with NULL pointer check.

In commit 418f7c2de1 ("mmc: meson-gx: use devm_mmc_alloc_host"),
it checks NULL pointer not PTR_ERR, if devm_mmc_alloc_host() fails,
so make it to return NULL pointer to keep same with mmc_alloc_host(),
the drivers don't need to change the error handle when switch to
use devm_mmc_alloc_host().

88f94c782b mmc: core: support setting card detect interrupt from drivers
On certain platforms like Amlogic Meson gpiod_to_irq() isn't supported
due to the design of gpio / interrupt controller. Therefore provide an
option for drivers to pass the card detect interrupt number
(retrieved e.g. from device tree) to mmc core.

Let's align to the common busy polling behaviour for mmc ioctls, by
updating the below two corresponding parts, that comes into play when using
an R1B response for a command.

*) A command with an R1B response should be prepared by calling
mmc_prepare_busy_cmd(), which make us respects the host's busy timeout
constraints.
**) When an R1B response is being used and the host also supports HW busy
detection, we should skip to poll for busy completion.

605d9fb955 mmc: sdio: fix possible resource leaks in some error paths
If sdio_add_func() or sdio_init_func() fails, sdio_remove_func() can
not release the resources, because the sdio function is not presented
in these two cases, it won't call of_node_put() or put_device().

To fix these leaks, make sdio_func_present() only control whether
device_del() needs to be called or not, then always call of_node_put()
and put_device().

In error case in sdio_init_func(), the reference of 'card->dev' is
not get, to avoid redundant put in sdio_free_func_cis(), move the
get_device() to sdio_alloc_func() and put_device() to sdio_release_func(),
it can keep the get/put function be balanced.

Without this patch, while doing fault inject test, it can get the
following leak reports, after this fix, the leak is gone.

1444fed25b mmc: core: Imply IOSCHED_BFQ
If we enable the MMC/SD block layer, use Kconfig to imply the BFQ
I/O scheduler.

As all MMC/SD devices are single-queue, this is the scheduler that
users want so let's be helpful and make sure it gets
default-selected into a manual kernel configuration. It will still
need to be enabled at runtime (usually with udev scripts).

5d42039907 tty: Convert ->dtr_rts() to take bool argument
Convert the raise/on parameter in ->dtr_rts() to bool through the
callchain. The parameter is used like bool. In USB serial, there
remains a few implicit bool -> larger type conversions because some
devices use u8 in their control messages.

In moxa_tiocmget(), dtr variable was reused for line status which
requires int so use a separate variable for status.

 - Replace prandom_u32_max() and various open-coded variants of it,

   sampling to choose properly uniformly random numbers within an

   Coccinelle was used to convert all current users of
   prandom_u32_max(), as well as many open-coded patterns, resulting in

   I'll have a "late" 6.1-rc1 pull for you that removes the now unused
   prandom_u32_max() function, just in case any other trees add a new
   use case of it that needs to converted. According to linux-next,
   there may be two trivial cases of prandom_u32_max() reintroductions
   that are fixable with a 's/.../.../'. So I'll have for you a final
   conversion patch doing that alongside the removal patch during the
   second week.

   This is a treewide change that touches many files throughout.

 - More consistent use of get_random_canary().

 - Updates to comments, documentation, tests, headers, and
   simplification in configuration.

 - The arch_get_random*_early() abstraction was only used by arm64 and
   wasn't entirely useful, so this has been replaced by code that works
   in all relevant contexts.

 - The kernel will use and manage random seeds in non-volatile EFI
   variables, refreshing a variable with a fresh seed when the RNG is
   initialized. The RNG GUID namespace is then hidden from efivarfs to
   prevent accidental leakage.

   These changes are split into random.c infrastructure code used in the
   EFI subsystem, in this pull request, and related support inside of
   EFISTUB, in Ard's EFI tree. These are co-dependent for full
   functionality, but the order of merging doesn't matter.

 - Part of the infrastructure added for the EFI support is also used for
   an improvement to the way vsprintf initializes its siphash key,
   replacing an sleep loop wart.

 - The hardware RNG framework now always calls its correct random.c
   input function, add_hwgenerator_randomness(), rather than sometimes
   going through helpers better suited for other cases.

 - The add_latent_entropy() function has long been called from the fork
   handler, but is a no-op when the latent entropy gcc plugin isn't
   used, which is fine for the purposes of latent entropy.

   But it was missing out on the cycle counter that was also being mixed
   in beside the latent entropy variable. So now, if the latent entropy
   gcc plugin isn't enabled, add_latent_entropy() will expand to a call
   to add_device_randomness(NULL, 0), which adds a cycle counter,
   without the absent latent entropy variable.

 - The RNG is now reseeded from a delayed worker, rather than on demand
   when used. Always running from a worker allows it to make use of the
   CPU RNG on platforms like S390x, whose instructions are too slow to
   do so from interrupts. It also has the effect of adding in new inputs
   more frequently with more regularity, amounting to a long term
   transcript of random values. Plus, it helps a bit with the upcoming
   vDSO implementation (which isn't yet ready for 6.2).

 - The jitter entropy algorithm now tries to execute on many different
   CPUs, round-robining, in hopes of hitting even more memory latencies
   and other unpredictable effects. It also will mix in a cycle counter
   when the entropy timer fires, in addition to being mixed in from the
   main loop, to account more explicitly for fluctuations in that timer
   firing. And the state it touches is now kept within the same cache
   line, so that it's assured that the different execution contexts will
   cause latencies.

e81bdae440 mmc: core: Remove non-data R1B ioctl workaround
The workaround of pretending R1B non-data transfers are data transfers in
order for the busy timeout to be respected by the host controller driver is
removed. It wasn't useful in a long time.

Initially the workaround ensured that R1B commands did not time out by
setting the data timeout to be the command timeout in commit cb87ea28ed
("mmc: core: Add mmc CMD+ACMD passthrough ioctl"). This was moved inside an
if-clause with idata->buf_bytes being set in commit 4d6144de8b ("mmc:
core: check for zero length ioctl data"). Since the workaround is now
inside the idata->buf_bytes clause and intended to fix R1B non-data
transfers, that do not have buf_bytes set, we can remove the workaround
altogether. This was dead code, since data transfers doesn't use R1B
commands.

1550217a8b mmc: mmc_test: Remove local_irq_{save,restore}() around sg_copy_{from,to}_buffer()
sg_copy_{from,to}_buffer() call sg_copy_buffer() which uses an
sg_mapping_iter with flag SG_MITER_ATOMIC, so then sg_miter_next() uses
kmap_atomic() to map pages.

A long time ago the kmap_atomic API required a slot to be provided which
risked the possibility that other code might use the same slot at the
same time. Disabling interrupts prevented the possibility of an interrupt
handler doing that. However, that went away with
commit 3e4d3af501 ("mm: stack based kmap_atomic()").

Remove local_irq_{save,restore}() around sg_copy_{from,to}_buffer().

39a72dbfe1 mmc: core: properly select voltage range without power cycle
In mmc_select_voltage(), if there is no full power cycle, the voltage
range selected at the end of the function will be on a single range
(e.g. 3.3V/3.4V). To keep a range around the selected voltage (3.2V/3.4V),
the mask shift should be reduced by 1.

This issue was triggered by using a specific SD-card (Verbatim Premium
16GB UHS-1) on an STM32MP157C-DK2 board. This board cannot do UHS modes
and there is no power cycle. And the card was failing to switch to
high-speed mode. When adding the range 3.2V/3.3V for this card with the
proposed shift change, the card can switch to high-speed mode.

406e14808e mmc: block: Remove error check of hw_reset on reset
Before switching back to the right partition in mmc_blk_reset there used
to be a check if hw_reset was even supported. This return value
was removed, so there is no reason to check. Furthermore ensure
part_curr is not falsely set to a valid value on reset or
partition switch error.

As part of this change the code paths of mmc_blk_reset calls were checked
to ensure no commands are issued after a failed mmc_blk_reset directly
without going through the block layer.

     I say "non-uniform", because it doesn't do any rejection sampling
     or divisions. Hence, it stays within the prandom_*() namespace, not
     the get_random_*() namespace.

     I'm currently investigating a "uniform" function for 6.2. We'll see
     what comes of that.

  By applying these rules uniformly, we get several benefits:

   - By using prandom_u32_max() with an upper-bound that the compiler
     can prove at compile-time is ≤65536 or ≤256, internally
     get_random_u16() or get_random_u8() is used, which wastes fewer
     batched random bytes, and hence has higher throughput.

   - By using prandom_u32_max() instead of %, when the upper-bound is
     not a constant, division is still avoided, because
     prandom_u32_max() uses a faster multiplication-based trick instead.

   - By using get_random_u16() or get_random_u8() in cases where the
     return value is intended to indeed be a u16 or a u8, we waste fewer
     batched random bytes, and hence have higher throughput.

  This series was originally done by hand while I was on an airplane
  without Internet. Later, Kees and I worked on retroactively figuring
  out what could be done with Coccinelle and what had to be done
  manually, and then we split things up based on that.

  So while this touches a lot of files, the actual amount of code that's
  hand fiddled is comfortably small"

07d2872bf4 mmc: core: Add SD card quirk for broken discard
Some SD-cards from Sandisk that are SDA-6.0 compliant reports they supports
discard, while they actually don't. This might cause mk2fs to fail while
trying to format the card and revert it to a read-only mode.

To fix this problem, let's add a card quirk (MMC_QUIRK_BROKEN_SD_DISCARD)
to indicate that we shall fall-back to use the legacy erase command
instead.
